in our war-barge, we have 2 passive generators that we all know of, the isk and sp subsystems. we entirely do not need any thing in this game that generates things passively as it can lead to game exploits.
so during my 30 day trial time in eve i started not too long ago, i thought what if we just had a sub-system that manufactured weapons and/or equipment and another one that took equipment and weapons of your choice and turned them into components for your benefit?
these two new systems would replace the isk and sp sub systems on our war-barges and introduce industry at its simplest.
how it could work: manufacturing - use the components that we don't have a use for now and allow it to make a weapon or equipment of your choice, giving us a list of all the things we can make and showing the components need to make that 1 specific item.(shows how much to make 1 but we can choose a number for how many we want. think of how the current trading window is and just change that up a bit) (or at random if the coding for that would be too complicated)
you can make any level weapon including officer but the higher the level the more and more of different components it will cost. for example: (i dont remember any of the names so ill just use "x") 1 STD combat rifle - 2 "x" component and 1 "x" components 1 ADV combat rifle - 3 "x" components, 2 "x" components and 1"x" components 1 proto combat rifle - 5 "x" components, 3 "x" components, and 2 "x" components 1 Officer combat rifle - 8 "x" components, 5 "x" components, 4 "x" components, and 2 "x" components
reprocessing - anything you dont want or use you can give it to this sub system and it will take it apart and give you the components back depending on the type of weapon or equipment it is. and in return it will give you a small amount of what ever the item was worth (lets say like 10-15% of what the item costed) so its not just a total waste. think of it as recycling but you keep the components and some isk.

And as far as the salvaging, it should be a flat rate unless you inflate the numbers. but you should NEVER have the chance of getting STD amount of salvage for turning in a PRO weapon.
Suggestion: If you want to introduce reprocessing, then each race's weapons need to NOT be broken down into racial salvage. Amarr=Heat Sinks, Gallente=Fusion Coils, and so on, so that some weapons (which can be directly sold for isk) are worth breaking down the weapons for to create other types of weapons.
And here is my idea of what salvage should look like.
Salvaging MIL: 1-3 components STD: 4-6 components ADV: 6-10 components PRO: 11-15 components.
Building MIL: 9 components STD: 15 components ADV: 25 components PRO: 40 components
thats what i had in mind for salvaging. it wouldn't just be a 1-1 ratio with building but it gives you components depending on the weapon and level it is and what i put in for manufacturing the weapons was just an example. didnt really know what exactly it could be like so i just put those numbers in but i do think that it should require more and more of different components, didnt know what you were implying by just saying components but if you mean in total of all the different components than yes.

On a different platform I'd really enjoy having invention and manufacturing. My first Eve toon was created to eventually make stuff for my Dust bro and fellow corp mates. I was certain that PI would be involved with PC.

I would like to bring this back up as an idea, as it does prove to be a potential for our warbarges and provide us with this beneficial way of a small-large income for those that find industry to be there thing. and if you have the lacking of components you can always just buy them off of somebody.
also ive updated the OP a bit different from what it originally was but still maintains most of what i first had.

FTFY after some thought i just fond out myself what that meant... and yes thats sort of what i had at first but i changed it and thought of which would make sense to get them from. though i do like grinding down more specifics than just any old weapon so ill change it back.
