If CCP allows light/heavy weapons from the passanger seat to be used. With that you could finally hunt down redline snipers and redline rail tanks. This way CCP ratattis vision of having dropships as direct tank counter could become true. Just think about it when you have a squadmate that has a commando suit with a swarm launcher and you take off chasing tanks.
We all probs where in the situation before that there is a tank, you shot it 1-2 with your swarms and he just runs off to regen his HP and then comes back to kill your team. With dropships chasing tanks we could end the debate about AV vs vehicles cause we would have finally a solution that requires teamwork. Plus it would make sense why we can open the dropship doors by pressing X (which actually is allready in the game).
PS: maybe we should limit this as a ADS benefit. This way you could only have 2 swarm launchers in your dropship instead of 4 as in a regular one.

Letting people fire swarms from dropships assures that tanks will cease to be a valid unit on the field.
Plasma cannons would be the most sporting.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

I also cringe thinking about MD spam from floating platforms, but at the same time I really can't think of a valid reason we shouldn't be able to. As a balancing factor perhaps make this an option on open topped variants of the vehicles to allow the passengers to be targeted. |

Plasma cannons would be the most sporting. Planetside 2 allows passengers to shoot from the seats of their Valkyries. You can also do repair on the ship in flight. But expecting to actually get a kill is nearly impossible, target lock is a significant problem with everything moving in 5 axis (3 for the vehicle and 2 for the target).
Plus, there is the whole shields to protect the passengers issue. If those are removed then I would assume that a well place rail gun turret round could empty a derp ship quite handily. Or, if we ever get fragmented missiles back.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

LAV passengers don't have anything like that. Right I thought you were referring to energy shields applying, but yes in regards to why the (physical) shields should be taken away if we can fire out: a) they restrict movement and thus firing angles limiting offensive ability, while b) they provide a very large area of invulnerability which would make sense in a ship designed to separate the passengers from the field(disallowing firing) but I feel are a fair trade off if we are going to allow passengers to fire(extra offense=more vulnerability) |

Yeah...no.
Swarms in their current state fired from a DS would basically render vehicles stupidly obsolete. DS with two Swarm/MD Commandos would just murder any enemy DS or LAV and seriously mess up any HAV while having the manoeuvrability to chase them down/hound them forever.
It would be the derp-iest vehicle change because Swarms are so incredibly dumb.

But...and stick with me here...helicopters are traditionally employed as tank hunters...an tanks are stupidly op at the moment and need counterplay introduced, AND (I have heard) ds piolets are looking for a role besides taxi to the bs spawn camping grounds on top of buildings. Further we could take this a an opportunity to tune the sl against a specific vehicle target(drop ship) while tuning down effectivness against tanks creating counterplay in a rock paper scissors way, perhaps tune the plasma cannon or forge gun to be especially good against tanks and badabing we could solve at least three balancing problems with some minor tweaking |

If DSs (more specifically, ADSs) are to be HAV hunters, they need to be so on their own merits and not because they can transport 2-4 OP weapons: it needs to be because of the ship itself (ie, the platform and guns it provides and the skill of the operators, not two people getting their dicks held the whole time...
The SL needs a major overhaul, and HAVs - more specifically, armour HAVs, which are the imbalance, not Shield HAVs - need balanced. Pitting two imbalances against one another is not healthy: they are still an imbalance for everything else.
