is there much community support for introducing them?
A module you could activate to temporarily lower your profile, beating the scans to flank the enemy would be awesome
Active resistances could help the current shield meta
Plus all the tools/animations are already in game with the cloak mechanics

How would they work? There isn't any way to do this right now.
The active modules are supposedly Equipments (increased scans, cloak, whatever).
Scouts United

We could bind their use to an unused D-pad button. Ideas for active modes could include heat sinks, resistance mods, stamina increases, etc.

Man, if only they had a cloak or something with this exact capability...
Dual Tanking on Cal suits isn't a sin. Try it out and stop saying shields are gimped.

Somebody doesn't run Gal scout...
This is more targeted at assault suits, with the intent you can still shoot whilst it's active
As for the mechanics, it would work like the cloak except changing to your weapon would not deactivate it and with no delay
