Oh, I have quite a bit of fun with the Mass Drivers and flaylocks without any need for jumping.
The jumping, however, is useful to get into more... superior positions - or plant a Drop Upllink where most people fail to look for it.
Do recall that since a jumper is most likely Caldari or Minmatar, they have very little tank making them easy to kill... ironically with a Mass Driver or Flaylock.
Nothing cures bad aim like a mass driver...

Next time you come across a jumper with a Mass Driver use that as an opportunity to practice how to shoot them while moving around slightly so you don't instantly die.

Thats not the point though you can keep killing them but it wont stop them committing the same thing over and over, plus if Mr Rat himself is trying to make a Tactical Shooter this shouldn't be in it, the reason for the jump bonus was to be able to climb hills that had rough terrain you keep slipping down on, but instead of applying a few numbers to the suits to increase the jump hight, lets put it on modules and have everyone go willy nilly with Mass Drivers & Flylock Pistols, this is the most stupidest game design choice I've seen in a FPS & it doesn't even make it a Tactical Shooter, quiet the opposite... |

It's called the "evolution of warfare" to hold a distinct tactical advantage over one's enemy. You can witness this evolution in the very early stages right now in the world's armed forces. Bigger, better, faster, advanced armors, thermal and conventional cloaking. Everything you hear about on the world's most advanced fighter jets and satellites is being stream-lined into Main Battle Tanks and infantry gear.

Has anyone made a "skeet-shooting" montage yet? send it to brett so he can watch + learn how to mess with jumpers bad.. do remember this: you have to jump at the same height everytime... have to be committed to every jump or you with screw yourself over.
Anyways, I think the mass drivers blast radius has always been way too big.. maybe reducing the Diameter of the blast about 2 meters would help the issue of Mass Driving Jumpers..
Personally I use the Plasma Cannon and even the Blast Radius of that I think is a TAD too big itself.
I just think people are cross-eyed when they use Mass Drivers + Core Locus Grenades

Sadly this is the truth now. With the forge gun not having any splash, they need to remove the massive splash of the MD. Otherwise on every open air map, you see someone raining in MD and farming kills. Even the lag facility has people raining in MDs into the room from the two towers.
The flaylock doesn't really kill people in armor from my experience. The deadliest pistol is still the bolt with aim assist.
