First of all Active Scanners completely outclass any of the detection modules. When you can have a single equipment do the job of multiple amounts of two separate modules, there is a problem.
Dampeners are okay, sort of maybe, occasionally, sometimes... I think we can live with them because the alternative is a cloak, and those things barely dampen you, and only at the high levels.
One thing is for sure, the precision enhancers and range amplifiers need help like nothing else. They are barely worth it on only three of the scout suits and even then it's only after you sacrifice an arm, leg and some of your brain matter. They should at least be noticeable on the medium frames and competitive on the light frames.

I think EWAR needs more options, apart from general slight range buff for passive scans.
Active Scanners: I actually think they should be even stronger, but with a added downside. They should increase the user's scan profile for the duration of the scan. That way a logi can't just continuously scan the battlefield without turning him/herself to a gigantic christmas tree with a bullseye painted on the back for the entire enemy team to see. Active scanning should require some tactical awareness and strategy.
Cloaks: I think it's silly the higher the tier, the longer duration AND dampening you get. There should be two (or more) forms of cloaks: - Long duration with no bonus to dampening, long switch time to weapon / equipment. Perhaps with a reduced shimmer while moving. Used for traversing open fields undetected. - Short duration with bonus to damping. Short switch time to weapon / equipment, but a reactivation delay before it's possible to cloak up again. Used for strategic quick ambush / assassination, but require timing and planning to not be caught.
Modules: Profile dampeners, Range Amplifiers and Precision Enhancers should be made more powerful, but with a added downside. For example Range Amplifiers should give a consirable boost in range, but the same time increase you own scan profile. Profile dampeners should be the opposite, reducing your scan profile at the expense of your available scan range. This way you can't just build a mobile scanning platform without downsides. (ok ok, one existing downside is you can't fill all slots with EHP modules... But anyway)

I agree, we need more options. Wouldn't it be cool with a equipment which jammed the TacNet within a certain radius of the user? Like the bloody Geth Hunters from Mass Effect? When you enter an area and your radar just show static... And you think... ****, where is it?
Of course, there would need to be some indication of who is doing the jamming, so you could find and kill the bastard. |

Agreed with overall assessment. Active Scan are too strong. Passive Scans are too weak. Suggestion:
Active Scans * Reduce Active Scanner scan duration by 25% (all scanners) * Nerf Creodron Flux angle and range (200 --> 150 meters, 90 --> 60 degrees) * Add a lengthy equip/unequip sequence to increase operational risk (like cloak) * During 0.3 sec snapshot, disable player ability to pan left or right (fix KB/M spin scanning) ** Add WP for team-based recon assists
Passive Scans * Set inner rings to a fixed 5m - 7m (not affected by range extenders) * Restore Range Extender module bonus to 45% (affect only middle and outer rings)

I rarely run Scout, but my opinion is this: The horrors of 1.8 are over, and Scouts are not as scary as they were. I think they have the right the dodge all non-focused scans with 1 dampener. Being undetected is their sole means of survival and utility, and becoming invalidated by 1 piece of equipment being used by someone hiding behind bodyguards is not okay.
My suggestion: The Gallente logi's precision bonus should be removed or reduced to a point to where a proto scanner would be 25b or more. I say this as a biased Min Scout; I have limited low slots that I need for KinCats and Codebreakers. I always have 1 dampener, but that's thwarted by a Gallogi and my place on the battlefield is meaningless. I think if a Gallogi has a focused scanner, he should be allowed to scan all but dual-damped Scouts. The logi's precision bonus should be swapped out for something else, like scan distance or an extra fitting bonus. Not recharge time, that will make Assaults complain about permascan. It's pretty hard to fight when everyone knows the exact moment you exit cover.
Overall, the current situation is bad and gives too much power to 1 player while also not rewarding him in points. Intel Kill Assists should be bumped up to 25-35 WP and be team-wide. The role of the support scanner needs to be rewarding without destroying the strategy of the game like it is now.

Is it just me or has everyone completely forgotten how speed scouts could literally not be hit by any weapon pre-1.3 ... and the one major factor in 1.8 was the cloaks were broken. As a non-shotgun using 1.8 scout, there was some extreme strength in the ewar, but I still had to fisticuffs with the assault's an heavies.

On literally every other dropsuit you are better served by fitting eHP modules.

I don't think he is either and he's only half right. The two counter each other . You and I have discussed it enough I'm sure you understand my perspective. As I'm sure I have a strong understanding of yours.
If theres a spinscan still able to be performed with kb/m that **** needs to have been squashed yesterday.
Equipment cycling times have already been screwed, actually right along with the cloak cycling adjustments. I can't count the number of times I switch from a hive to a gun and wind up carrying a hive in a firing position. Itd be funny if the hive fired rounds but, alas, nope.

Ewar is working fine for me, im using 2 precision enhancers to get my "long range" 30m scan below 40DB which is enough to pick up assaults, logis and heavys in CQC oriented areas. And ofcourse the active scanner is more powerfull then your passive scans. Thats like comparing the power of a reptool to a single armor repair module on your suit. So dont be silly.

Passive scans seem fine to me although range amps could do with being looked at.
Active scanning is a whole other matter, in its current form its too strong and makes passives redundant.I'd personally take them out of the game. We already have passive ewar, why do we need active? |

Imagine an Active Scanner that only highlights enemies while it is active, and has a battery that lasts about as long as current scan durations, but requires the user to have it out and holding down the trigger. That way they have to be vulnerable in order to paint targets for their team for any length of time.
This next part might be harder, but to really make it interesting you could attempt to make this more dynamic by having the person doing the scanning show up on the radars of everyone who is currently being scanned. This means that you have to balance getting Intel Assists and helping your team against the inevitability of someone trying to flank around you since they know where you are.

No doubt, I do. And am still of the opine that we're in a good spot. By all means buff my range/prec mods. Tho personally I think we'd get better mileage out of moving profiles closer together in general. But thats just me.
