What if when we double tapped the circle button and pointed our left analog stick in any direction we would dash a few meters in that direction. It should be around four meters and a half of displacement, at two and a half times the players sprint speed. No weapons or equipment could be used while dashing and would use up twice the amount of stamina as one jump. It would make fights a bit more interesting.
Though another reason I want to add this is so there's an excuse for making a Caldari biotic module. It could increase the amount of displacement. The modules, in ascending tier order, would be made as follows: 35, 45 and 65 percent increase to displacement.
Note, all these numbers are experimental and are offered to make the idea tangible and are not concrete.

Terry Webber wrote:Sounds cool but I think it would be better if this ability was used by a variant of the suit's inertial dampeners. It can be a module called the inertial booster, which would use visuals similar to the ones that represent inertial dampeners and have the added ability to jump higher. Check out the link here for more info: Inertial Booster Module It shouldn't be a module exclusive. Everyone should be able to do it, but the module should increase one's potential in the action.

We have that vertical movement with myrofibs.
We already have hit detection issues of people simply running on the horizontal plane. Dash movment might be a bit too much. In Call of Duty it would be more akin to the slide mechanic not the boost mechanic. Nevertheless, one would not be able to attack in this mode so it would not nearly be troublesome such as latency strafing.

MOG has this, the game is called warframe, and its kinda cool but I can use a sword when I dash, seems like something someone with a nova knife should be able to do, while using their knives especially since they are so short range. Because of concerns about latency I don't feel that allowing attacks in this mode would be ideal.

There's gotta be a delay to using weapon though. Thank you for the support.
I don't believe a delay will be necessary because people will be able to predict where people will dash to. This means that someone who sees you dash out of their crosshairs could also position their gun on you again. This leaves the dasher open to two options. Attack and gamble that you will be able to kill them before they kill you or dash out the way again and hope they don't expect it.
The dash would be most useful to quickly get to cover or avoid potentially devastating shots like Plasma Cannons, Mass Drivers, Remote Explosives, Charged Ion Pistol Plasma Bolts, Bolt Pistol Rounds, Forge Gun Shots, Nova Knife slices and stabs, m+¬l+¬e strikes, shotgun rounds, Scrambler Rifle Bolts, grenades and even Sniper Rifle shots if you notice them at the last second.
It would add a new level of evasion similar to jumping, except with the added vulnerability that you can't use your weapons while dashing.
