I don't fault them one bit. Outside of Baghdad or Afghanistan (well... maybe Camden NJ or Detroit MI too), Mexico is the only place I have seen that has people living amongst the rubble of other houses that look like they had a bomb dropped on them. I hope you realize the poor state of most of south america and central america is a direct result of the policies of the united states, if you dont realize this, please do some reading. Funny enough the same could be said about Baghdad and Afghanistan these days as well, aint freedom great!
Actually it's because the extreme leftism and communistic identities in politics. If you look at any SA countries under the right side of the political spectrum, they were all doing quite well economically.

If you look at any SA countries under the right side of the political spectrum, they were all doing quite well economically. They still are at some degree, and speaking of "rightism", remember Argentina, austral failure and their fixed rate on US dollar? Phah, very much like non-commie righties got spanked. Communism economies were struggling because capitalist economies helped them in their struggling. :D Known fact which until nowadays affects emerging markets in South America and will keep on going. For example such economies in Asia are doing better, thus they understood the need for adjustments, yes some have bubbles like China's real estate(can't wait for it to collapse) but other than that average annual rates of growth are pretty much acceptable for communistic lefties, of course they suffer cyclical decline in growth approaching the steady state but "hey!", not bad at all, at the cost of pollution of course.
If you think china is doing well take a trip over there, have fun having people attempt to sell you child prostitutes because the average person can't afford to eat.
