You've made an interesting transition in idea, from people ("like" me) being shaped by mass media (Fox news/Hannity) to those people now being shaped by "social media". Social media (like this forum) being distinctly different from mass media in content, audience and purpose. Most notably tho they're different in their content generation sources, mass media long having been the outlet of major media interests whereas social media is a cumulative total of its social userbase.

So since now its social media leading folks astray into stereotyping at what point do we consider the individual's responsibility in society at recognizing when and when is not a stereotype applicable? A stereotype such as xenophohia being the motivator behind a group or individuals actions or activities?
