For months now I have been trying to turn the Gallente Assault suit into the ideal CQC fighter. Though having more than one oponent, the HMG and every scout in the world, has made it an uphill battle. Months later I have the Gallente Assault to level V, AR damage Proficiency to V, AR sharpshooter to level V and biotics to level V.
The conclusion? Without stealth or an extreme amount of health I'm just cannon fodder in CQC. Heavies outclass me and if there's more than one scout rushing me then my AR proves to lack stopping power.
So, I have gone back to my roots. I have re acquired my Minmatar Assault suit, Locus Grenades, Myofibril Stimulants and added a Mass Driver and Remote Explosives.
I am now a terrorist for hire. Any insurgents that want to make an impression and lack a desire to collateral damage to a minimum please contact me.
Put your flags up in the sky.

Lol, all things I think have issues on a console shooter :) I find AOE spam in this game to be too powerful due to the generally imprecise nature of a console shooter and the lack of any discernible logic (or the ability to change the damned control layout) in the bindings.
I'm not suggesting that people absolutely cannot be precise, there are clearly people who have excellent aim, even taking into account the massive drawback to a pad, but on the whole, casual players will never reach that level and AOE does really good damage even if you don't hit so it just gets spammed to death. In most games I'm personally in, I find that more than half of each side is spamming AOE of some description (not counting grenades) and I really don't think that's good. |

This is paramount because the biggest tactic used in this game is to simply rush an objective with as many people as possible.
Previously my favorite light weapons were the Combat Rifle and Scrambler Rifle.

You see, to me that just implies that the splash damage on explosive weapons is far too high. That you can very quickly down a large group of enemies is in no way a good thing to me. But maybe I'm just old-fashioned and remember when you could do that without the use of explosive weapons on older shooters but can't any more. |

You can't down a large number of people in this game because everyone had high health. Explosives, turrets, off map support and vehicles are the only ways to actually destroy a large amount of people.
Explosives are good because they help to prevent people from wandering around in mobs of proto players.

That precision mod is not benefiting you at all. You don't have any armor plates so you will die fast when you are noticed and because Assault suits need at least three advanced dampeners to be even mildly stealthy you will be noticed. On the off chance you survive your initial encounter you will quickly die in your second engagement because you are unlikely to recover all the armor you lost in time.

Aoe weapons should be heavy class as should swarms. I say this as a practiced but not perfect swarm user. I have so far refused to go into mass driver use and can't use the plasma cannon for sh!t! These are not light weapons and shouldn't be useable on light or medium suits.
Also the myofibs causing a heavy or medium to jump as high as a scout is just messed up. The heavy suit user can't run as fast as a scout so how the f**k can he jump as high?

I don't want to come off as rude (I truly don't) but it took you that long to realize how shoddy the Gal Assault is at it's own role? Lol, we've been breaching about this for years (literally!) now.
At any rate, I can give you some tips on dealing with Heavies but I have yet to figure out how to handle up on Scouts mostly because there are little to no counters to EWAR except... well... EWAR, which you're going to have to go Gal Logi for and everyone thinks they're OP.
As far as dealing with Heavies you need to hallmark on a 60/40 ratio of mobility and regen. You need to be able to move around their HMG capability (myros are great for this) and stay constantly mobile with a high degree of strafe speed (this means you'll need ferroscales... maaaaaybe reactives). If you can jump into and out of cover you'll keep a high degree of regen. You want to try and perform lighting quick 'hit-and-runs' using your higher regen capability as a means of handling up on his higher buffer.
The only flaw in this is whenever another enemy joins the fray, in which you're going to have to make a decision on who to focus on. Lot of times I'll go for the enemy that I know I can kill the fastest to reduce incoming DPS and that may not always mean the closest target, so you'll need to break away from the heavy - be sure to put as much cover between him and you as possible while running because that HMG can still tear you up as you're running away. This can be difficult in open terrain.
But, yeah, like I said, as far as Scouts you're on your own. There's no real way to deal with them other than having a Gal Logi with a focused scanner on your team and no-one runs those because they're just too much of a pain in the ass to use.

Because if you don't, the Caldari will be the next ones who are bias!

Armour plates are the worst thing you can put on a gal assault, it s hard to find the good way to run it because it lacks of stamina and speed but at the same time you can have a great amount of HP and an insane reps rate. It s enough 1 enhanced armour plate to be an easy target

I think that's part of the problem. Very high health means you either tank up to the nines or die. Even with the very high health you can still go down really quick to proto weapons. For me it just reinforces AOE as a dominant force in the game and I don't know if it should be that dominant.
Note, I'm neither for or against it, I just don't know if it should be that dominant, there's an awful lot of it. I'm also not for the ability to mass-kill a lot of people. Things like warbarge strikes make me irrationally angry as they reinforce someone/a team that is already doing very well most of the time. Vehicles I can see, but they should have their own weaknesses, but a lone guy on foot outside of certain circumstances shouldn't be able to mass kill the way I've seen them do in this game. Just my opinion. |
