I think it's more a problem of "too little, too late".

Gallente forces just got bored, I myself just don't care enough to play anymore. We achieved dominance for a damn long time (Since FW released) and just lost interest.

Those who still play on the Gallente side are... to be perfectly blunt, not good.
There are exceptions, Sgt Kirk, Foehammerr, Arkena Wyrnspire, to name a few, but the talent pool is far more shallow than it used to be.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe Caldari resurgence will spark some proper opposition from the Gallente, but honestly I don't see it happening.

At the end of the night (in Europe), the new Gallente channel had more Galllente Loyalist than Lucent Echelon. I started play DUST 1 year ago, I have a loyalty level 7 (near 8) and is with sadness that i see Lucent Echelon with so few people. I think that a lot of people started playing Gallente FW for the Apex suits but are not putting the necessary effort to win (they are looking for easy wins). And in the way destroyed the channel....
