I seriously don't think its a good idea to use the analog stick for all the vehicle movement. Its not efficient when in combat. Maybe you could switch it up though and use the r2 and l2 buttons for left and right. I don't know if you've ever played that star wars pod racing game, but its the same idea. Just a thought. But yea, please don't keep them that way. |

The issue with R2 is that it's used to use your vehicle modules. Anyways, I've found that the analog controls are actually pretty good for the LAVs after some practice. It's the tanks I now have an issue with. |

Hate to say this but maybe the halo style driving?
right stick controls camera and the left stick is basically forward and reverse you go the direction the camera is facing. |

Feels cunky to me the lav & tanks. Dropships seem perfect tho. |

+1 for Efflin's rationale; a necessary compromise.
As the L2/R2 paddles are already taken, analog steering should be mapped to R3, with acceleration staying on L3.
It's too awkward with just one stick. |

Why not just let people map their vehicle controls? |

I agree with Eflin, the controls should be changed to more of a haloish style, or they need to go to a more standard sacing game style, i.e. joystick controls steering and one button controls acceleration and another for braking/reverse.

Control is nonexistant right now
You cant turn without going at full speed or drifing around
L2/R2 acc n deacc with direction L analog and boosters mapped to keyboard would be my set up |

I agree but although R2 and L2 are already in use if they change it to something like that it would make flying a dropship even harder. |

it should be like in any driving game: X for acceleration, L3 for steering, L2 for braking, L3 for look. |

there is no throttle control when the gas is X its either go or no go
i would prefer gas be R2 but since its taken...gotta go with the Halo controlls...i put initial D to shame with my Warthog driving...i would love to do the same in Dust with an LAV ;) |

The main problem with Tanks is dependent on your current movement. I dont mind the single stick control but it needs fixing. If your in a tank and your turning RIGHT while moving FORWARD but then decide you need to reverse right. You must 1st stop to perform the action or else if the tanks still in motion when switching from forward to backward the controls will work opposite of intention. So all of a sudden going backwards right actually turns the front of the tank to the right rather then to the left as the current setup intends.
The idea is your tank wants to move in the direction you push the stick in. so going backwards right meens the back end of the tank goes to the right while the front goes left. While in previous motion however the opposite happens.
Till that gets fixes all I can say is bring your tank to a full stop before changing forward to backward or visa versa. Its any motion at all the retains the original directions controls. |

Agreed. The vehicle controls are awkard as is. Why CCP chose the current vehicle controls is beyond me.
Most games I've played use the following vehicle controls R2 for forward L2 for reverse left analog stick for turret control and right analog stick for field of view. |

I have to admit that using vehicles in Halo was fun and so much easier. |
