Sorry to make another GalAss thread, but... why did no one tell me how awesome a TacAR + FP combo was?
As stated before, I was struggling to find ways to make the GalAssault viable at ranged combat. Many of you had given some really good suggestions, so I tried to build off of them. Sadly, the majority of advice had little effect on improving where the GalAss was lacking. Sure multiple KinCats, Profile Damps, LAVs, etc. can be of assistance, but they never really solved the problem of actually engaging at range.
Anyway, looking through what I had available in my assets, I noticed I could equip Flaylock Pistols. It completely slipped my mind, but I had the darned things completely maxed out (proficiency, rapid reload, fitting optimizatinons, etc. all at 5). I slapped a Core FP onto a Duvolle Tac fit and and was blown away by what the little pocket rocket could do.
The TacAR is primarily a medium ranged rifle. It does well to take out shields as it hits quite hard and with a fast enough trigger finger, it can almost compete with the ScR. However, being shield based does have its disadvantages and that is where the FP comes into play.
The darned thing has longer range than the Tac. It helps to chew through the last bit of armor that the Tac couldn't finish off, even with poor aim. What's more surprising is how it makes opponents go into some type of panic mode. Against explosives, players tend to react by jumping away and trying to find cover. In effect, their aim is thrown off and the GalAss user is left in the better position, allowing him or her to give chase and close the distance.
This will be my last GalAss thread, but if you haven't tried an FP on a TacAR fit, I highly recommend you give it a shot. You'll be more than pleasantly surprised. |

But at that point you might as well just switch to Amarr Assault. I gave it a go for a while and it was just -re-got-damn-ridiculous- how much more powerful. Yeah, I also have a maxed AmAssault with maxed ScRs and the fit I use on my GalAss works out better for my AmAss.: especially an AScR/FP combo. |
