Without ISK this game is not unique. Why not just play a triple A game for the PS4. Where is all the things i wanted to play this game for in the beta where is the uniqueness and stand out quality instead of expanding them and making them better we are just shrinking and downgrading to a lobby shooter.
The problem with the current slot layout of STD suits is that they are almost impossibly gimped against higher tier suits and equipment.
Take for example the STD min assault, sure a competent player can can tank it to a respectable level and be reasonably competitive, however the problem arises for example if the enemy starts using scanners or dampened scouts.
You simply are too limited in the amount of slots you have at your disposal to counter those tactics without gimping your ehp levels to the point where you are unable to compete in firefights.
However a STD suit with proto slot layouts will give players at that level a lot more choice and freedom.
And to those saying this method of tiercide will make progression pointless are just plain wrong. Higher PG/CPU levels will allow players in adv and proto to equip better modules.
I've always believed its the modules and the way you fit your suit that should give you an advantage in game, not having a dropsuit with a huge power disparity that will make you almost unkillable to newer players. A Proto weapon for example with 10% more damage over a STD weapon in most of FPS's would be considered a massive advantage already, having double the slots as well was overkill and we all know it!!! |

deo volente2 wrote: well either you or i have seriously misunderstood the term 'tiericide' , my understanding of the term is that ALL tiers are removed leaving ONLY 1 level of suit to choose, as to what level i cannot say, but there will be NO STANDARD, ADVANCED or PROTO, it will be 1 level with only the modules seperating suits, and you believe this will help newer players, on no my friend it will not, it will more than likely be worse, cause the vets will always be in the same suit level as new players, but with way more hp and firepower, whereas of right now a new player can get a proto suit with minimal skills (fw/aurum) fight a 100mill sp vet, but with the vet in a adv or basic bpo say, and win easily, put everyone in the same suit, and, wellit'll be feeding time at the zoo for the vets and the newer players will be dinner. I have said this before: The only way you can make the game better for new players is to have a 'starter fit only' battle mode where our suit upgrades DONOT COUNT, this would be great for new players and those wanting to grind isk, and allow progression to the other modes when and IF they want, to do this i would merge skirm with fw, keep ambush and dom the same, and make acqusistion the starter fit mode, yes it really is that simple, and it would allow new players to build isk, sp, and battle experience, without getting 'proto stomped', This really is the only way tohelp newer players and this game, because in the 'starter fit mode', the only difference between the players would be themselves, also there would have to be no vehicles in this mode, DONE (much better than 'tiericide')
From what I understand you are right and wrong.
There WILL be just one suit per race and role and all suits will have a proto slot layout, however there will be an insertable power core that will come in STD, ADV and PRO forms that will increase your PG/CPU accordingly.
Say for example you want to save a bit of ISK you take your chosen dropsuit (gal assualt for example) and insert a STD power core. You then fill your slots with modules within the PG/CPU limit the STD powercore will allow. If however you decide that your current setup could do with a bit more 'oomph' you can swap out the STD powercore for an ADV one (for an added ISK cost of course).
You can then equip better weapons and modules with the additional PG/CPU that the ADV powercore has given your dropsuit.
I hope this makes sense, I'm kind of tired. |

The lower tiered suits would have less CPU/PG. There is still progression, there would be more fitting variety for STD and ADV dropsuits. That's a good thing considering that prior to tiericide your options for a STD dropsuit were: eHP or die instantly. Advanced was slightly better than that. You might fit one extra module that wasn't for tanking. THERE WILL BE NO 'LOWER TIERED SUITS', THEY WILL ALL BE THE SAME WITH ONLY THE MODULES SEPERATING THEM. read the dev's posts, 'tiericide' means to get rid of all levels of suits, no proto, no adv, no standard ALL THE SAME
Yes the STD, ADV, PRO will be gone. There will however be a STD/ADV/PRO powercore instead. Read my earlier post. |
