Are you running expensive tanks? Run standard tanks with standard turret. You can lose tanks and stay isk positive. It is better to trash tanks and not lose so much rather than trying to stay alive, but if you get trashed you are out of isk.
Support infantry with scans, mCRU and suppression fire. Engage tanks under certain circumstances or by staying back with a rail or missiles.
Large missile turret kills tanks from range just fine. A tank won't have it's hardeners on if it doesn't know you'll be firing from a distance. Large missiles are great for CQ area of denial as well.
The CPM candidate we need, not the one we want. Friends are nice, ideas are golden.

You have to accept that shields are crap right now and rails are just too powerful. Once some scrub brings out a rail you have to work around that big time. The whole thing ends up as a rail game ultimately. Usually two scrubs together bring out rail tanks and that is a good time to hang back and try to get them from a distance one at a time or just park a rail tank on the redline and pop open a beer til the game ends.
I'll give this a try.
