Well and good, but did you know that most online game connections don't require insane speeds to create a lag less environment.
View your broadband speed like a pipe, for example the one that connects your toilet to the sewer or septic. Higher broadband speed is like having a larger pipe. So it's technically not about "SPEED" yet how big your pipe.
Get too many turds together with a small pipe, pipe gets clogged, causes back flow and poopy water all over your floor. Same with low broadband speeds, data gets clogged up, delayed in transmission, causing lag as data is struggling to get out.
Wireless connections are the worst with this, for numerous reasons (so hardwire to your router if possible), yet the main culprit comes from having multiple devices connected trying to transmit data out at the same time.
It's like having multiple people pooping at the same time on the same toilet, all them turds want to be first down the hole, but that hole ain't big enough for all them turds at one time, creating congestion and likely turds all over your floor and not just poopy water.
So, unless you have some sort of QOS, to prioritize which packets make it out when, you are going to have some serious lag issues as ALL packets are trying to make it out at the same time without it.
This said, I don't think PC lag has much to do with our connections to the server or one side lagging or the other (though this could cause issues). PC's tend to have a LOT more going on in the match, people using many suits, dropuplinks everywhere, ect ect ect.
SO more than likely the cause for lag may have something to do with memory, or simply your PS3 being unable to keep up with the amount of things going on in the match. As the typically WORST maps are city centric maps with many little details needing to be rendered.
Often, if I stay well and clear of the city, I can keep my personal lag to an absolute minimum, yet the moment I go anywhere near the city, the poop hits the fan and I'm out of the match. Besides, can't lag switch when CCP controls the servers. It would only cause that one particular person lag which typically has a greater affect on that persons game than any others.
Though, taking my experience with destiny, having a poor connection to the server can play to your benefit as well. Though Cap has just as much trouble with lag as the rest of you, it's just as crippling to us as you. And lag has been an issue in any PC I've ever done with the corps I have been in.
So, this is kinda an ongoing problem.
