This is a simple way to stop people from leaving battles.
When accepting a battle, you leave a deposit fee of 250k isk. If you play the WHOLE match, you get that isk back when you are paid for battle (payouts will appear higher)
If you leave that battle, the isk is equally shared between # of players still in match.
This will discourage players to leave as they will LOSE isk and will encourage players to stay and fight as they will WIN isk.
Example-
16 players- 4m isk
6 drop- 1.5m isk.
The 1.5 mil is evenly divided for all players with the player in first place taking any extra isk.
150,000 isk more for the 10 remaining players on team.
Those 10 will also receive their 250k isk back.
250k+150k+ payout (let's say 350k for first place in normal match)
That's 750k isk as your total payout.
You are MAKING 550k isk.

Just put a penalty for consecutive leaving. The first time you get away with no penalty, the second time will be a 5 minute penalty where you cannot enter any matches (except PC matches), the 3rd time you are suspended from pubs for 30 minutes. If you come with the "i disconnected" crap then maybe you shouldnt play if you disconnect 3 times in a row.

That's 750k isk as your total payout with 250k that you are getting back from deposit fee.
You are MAKING 550k isk. (Not including you losses)
Extra-
Imagine your WHOLE team drops out. You want to as well because it kinda isn't worth fighting anymore BUT now, you could just snipe or something AND EARN 4m+ Isk!!!!
Must be made so that it only works IF YOU DROPOUT OUT OF BATTLE. When you go to menu to select leave battle, it's will say, are you sure? Deposit fee will be lost.
Disconnections and other stuff should be able to bypass isk lost. Don't know how it can be made to do so but.....=ƒÿ¦
THAT is a GREAT idea!
The only problem would be if a person would have almost zero isk, there would have to be an exception so no one could be locked out of battles. So if wallet is empty, you still get into a game.
What about people who transfer all their isk away to a friend or an alt when joining a game? Possible, but I believe it would be too much of a hassle to manage it.
But again, an excellent idea, Let's make it happen!

That could be handled by fixing the matchmaking so that if you reboot in time (in about 3mins) you are put into the same match on the same side.
That mechanic should be in place anyways, not just for this as it would reduce cherry picking fights as well.

Of course the would be no "game over for real" -deathlock. I quote myself:

**** 250 ISK, just do 10% of players current ISK to enter battles. Doesnt hurt low players who leave but completely wrecks ******* who have tons of ISK.
This would also spread the wealth around. People who AFK or are disconnected suffer this as well, sucks to be someone on a potato but you should have thought of that before you try to play online =P |

That'll stop some people from leaving battles, yeah, but it'll encourage people to sit in the redlines and play it safe if they're on the losing side and don't want to lose that 250k. I'd rather have someone leave the match than go AFK in the redlines. At least if they leave match there's a chance someone who actually wants to help can join in.
If a disconnect will also circumvent the loss of ISK then that'll just encourage players to find creative ways around it if they want to quit. Like turning off their router or PS3. |

Well, having to pay the fee could easily be accompanied by pressing the leave button... but what will stop people from just pulling the plug from their router?
I think one way would be to prevent people who disconnect or leave from joining another match for 3 minutes or so. It should just be annoying leaving a match. Not cost them something.

I'm not fond of deposits for Pub games. If you don't have the ISK for the deposit, what then?
I would propose two things: 1) If you leave a game you loose the currently deployed suite / vehicle.
2) Unable to accept another contract until the previous expires. - If you left the game you can rejoin the same game again until the match end. If no spots are available on the team, you will be relieved from the contract, and can search immediately. (You won't get any ISK or salvage though). |

How about just making battles worth completing so people have incentive to play the match. |

This is a FREE 2 PLAY game!
All that will happen is even more players will leave. I want to see how the wording will be in the New Player Guide as well. Won't that be a fun read? Player response will be: PS3->Select Game->Dust 514->Delete Game->Yes.
I would rather we got paid a reasonable amount of ISK to even be in a battle. Then there might be a reason to stay. If you die two or three times you won't make a profit on a losing match (unless you are in the top six). So - people don't stay. I do. But I wouldn't even join if it cost even more to join a battle.

You should absolutely check out the definition of profit, It's wild stuff.

This is nice, really nice. I'm in. Since we're all mercenaries here it would make a great amount of sence. You join battles, do contracts, that contract is not fulfilled so you pay for abandoning said contract. +1 |

That is the basic concept that should be there. BUT it will never ever be enough on it's own (at least, if we don't want battle rewards to be exploited).
There will be people cherry picking fights because there are some other motivations besides just battle rewards.
