Frame rate drops are partially because you aren't. There are still programming issues that are affected by programming. Ccp almost always try to smooth things over every patch. That's honestly the best you can do. I had a very long talk with some people about getting an ssd. Don't do it. It's not your hard rive its the video card or your Internet.

I always scrub my motherboard with mild soap and water then run it through the dishwasher (but you gotta use a drying agent with it).

I open up my PS3 and clean/vacuum the interior at least once a month. That and defrag it.
And make sure you have a wired connection, playing Dust via Wi-Fi is a nightmare.
