I'll leave what SSD you purchase up to you, but apparently Samsung, Intel and Crucial are good brand names. Now for how to physically remove your HDD and install your SSD, and then how to install the ps3 OS once its in there. HERE is a tutorial on how to physically remove your HDD and install a SSD on a slim. After you do that, go to THIS link, you will need it to install the latest ps3 software onto a flash drive. HERE is a tutorial video on how to install the latest ps3 OS onto your SSD once it is in there, the site it tells you to go to in the beginning of the video is the one I linked.
How To Prevent Network/Server Lag Compared to fps drops players have less control of network lag, as there aren't as many things you can do to prevent it. However I do have some useful tips, again listed least time consuming/easiest first.
- Make sure your Battle Server is set to your region! Gamemode's like FW and PC ARE NOT purely whatever server you have selected, the server for those gamemode's is decided based on where the majority of the players in the battle are based out of. To take full advantage of this and avoid playing on a server that does not suit you, you can try to minimize playing with and against people that are not from your region.
Many leaders of PC corps regularly tell their players to switch their battle server to the one that would give them the most advantage, in PC people from the same region in the world often blue up, so the game decider between say a Euro corp and a Latino Corp is often the competition for the server. Sad, but true.
- If you find that your internet connection seems to degrade over the course of a day or two, your might find THIS info useful, as you may there may be a problem with your network configuration or your router in general. If fixing it seems like too much work, rebooting your router at least once a day should stave off the connection degradation. HERE is a quick 2 min tutorial video on how to do it.
- Establish a wired connection between your ps3 and your router. Many people experience a significant improvement to their internet connection. Wireless is fine so long as your router is within close proximity to your ps3. The further away it is, the weaker the connection. Wired being the best. HERE is a tutorial video on how to set up a wired connection.
- Have a faster internet connection. I know for most people this is really obvious, but a lot of you seem to prefer/only have access to potato internet, which is unfortunate. You should have at least 8 megabits per second, anything less than that is potato status and will make you lag like hell.
How to lessen Input Lag/delay The most sure fire way to reduce input lag is to purchase a new monitor with as little ms as possible, and to play on a lower resolution. HERE is a site that may help you find the one best for you.
If this option does not seem appealing, lowering the visual settings on your TV is an okay alternative, any setting that improves the image in general. It is also a fact that wired controllers produce better response times than wireless in general, but it's a very small and inconsequential difference and depends on the which brand name you purchase your controller from, which I can't help you with.
Kalante Schiffer knows more about this I do, HERE is a link to his post further down in the thread.
Well that's all I got. Please keep the thread on topic, feel free to contribute and call me out on anything I left out or am wrong about. Wrote this same **** a year ago, no one cared. I do most of this for Dust, and honestly its too much bullshit for a game when BF4 runs so smooth. Cant wait to see this game on my 8 cores on my PS4 .

If you want 80 or 90% less framerate drop, simply NEVER PLAY GALLENTE RESEARCH FACILITY. Since I personally made this change most of the other stuff isnt even an issue. See once those memory leaks start quality goes down even after that match. In PC or FW this is not viable option, but for pubs just leave it. The fewer instances of this map in play on TQ the better. Just leave.
