It's nothing concrete but dust can grow nicely on the ps4. It could theoretically do better on pc but i don't want to be playing eve and dust on 2 monitors.
Games like dust are very niche on pc. Pc gamers on the whole, do tend to go for more indie and casual games. Take csgo for instance. It is bland as sht with nothing to it, you can't even ads, but it hit 450k players not too long ago.
Now take planetside 2, it has not even close to half of that on at any one time.
Ps4 is the smarter choice. If dust is running this well on the ps3 which has less power than some phones in many respects, think about how great it will be on ps4. Don't use Dust as an example of the PS3's capability. Try looking up Starhawk gameplay.
I agree with you on what platform the game should move to, of course.

This same logic can be applied to PC. The difference being that one day even the PS4 will give up the ghost. PC will exist through the console generations.

It's either that, or just let the game die on PS3. CCP has invested quite a bit into Dust. Money, time, as well as spent years planning the integration into their main game EVE. They're not just gonna pull plug.
Dust has a promising future. And a reboot on a new platform gives so much opportunity to do everything right this time, learn from the mistakes of Dust.
With all that said though... Dust probably has another year or two worth of life left on the PS3, maybe longer. Though I think by the end of the year we'll probably be in *dire* need of new content.

If CCP wants Dust 514's community to stick around for the port then they need to announce the port sometime in 2015.

Starhawk was much simpler in a technical sense. So it's a totally fair statement.
Theres plenty of games that LOOK better but are much simpler in a technical sense. They don't have to use resources to calculate everything that's happening and all the stuff in the game, along with talking to eve online.

I would imagine that a lot of old players would come back if the game was given a new lease of life and the higher quality and content that can be achieved would draw in new players as well.

One statement and they'd get a bump in revenue from players coming back enough to pay for the port. |

Dust could be the Final Fantasy XIV for CCP.
