Gallente don't have regular variant, just assault assault rifle & mimic variants.
Why don't CCP made one & get rid of those mimics (breach, burst, tactical)? Regular variant can have mechanics similar to laser rifle, damage will grow with overheating (longer you shoot - more damage you deal), looks legit & fits gallente style - cqc & dps.

Yeap, those were place holders, then it got all messed up through balancing. Gallentes have largest & worst (useless) weaponry in rifle category, need something decent to strike fear into gallentes enemies in ranges from cqc to medium, not just badly mimic others.
Racial regular + assault variant scheme looks good, gallente looks messed up atm.

Why then minmatar, amarr & caldari don't have other mimic variants, just gallente?

CCP can't handle balancing of current rifle situation for how long? several years?
Reducing scheme to racial regular + assault will make it easier. Just by replacing gallentes miminc with one regular.
Adding amarr breach & burst, caldari tactical & burst, minmatar breach & tactical will make it only worst.

I offer to reduce standard rifles from 10 to 8, while introducing missing ones (logicaly), CCP need to make 6 more. Do we really need that much?
Gallentes already have 4 variants + 3! officers.
