Fanfest 2015 - Round Table with CCP Rattati
Rattati actually brought up the fact that his team was experimenting with drones as a concept for either NPE or PvE. However, he did point out that the AI used for the drones might only be rudimentary. In other words, don't expect rogue drones in Dust to be anymore intelligent than your typical turret installation.
IMPORTANT NOTE: He was just experimenting. He did not say if this is going to happen.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the drones they were experimenting with were assets that were already developed and rigged in-game as props for the Gathering Forces trailer.

As a cross-platform gamer, I don't give a damn if Dust 514 goes into the PC or the PS4. All that matters to me is that it moves on.
I could go with the PC platform since it will allow Dust to be more unified with CCP's Tranquility server and will allow players access to Singularity for testing, but that would require going through the hassle of transferring ownership of in-game assets from the PSN accounts to the PC accounts. The other problem is that it will alienate an already-established player base on the PlayStation market who don't have a PC and thus CCP will be forced to rebuild their player base from the ground up in the PC market and that carries risks.
I could also go with the PS4 platform since it will be convenient for both CCP and players to just move over without the hassle of transferring ownership of in-game assets since it will just be the same accounts access it. That and the PS4 is said to be much closer to the PC specs than ever before. In fact, according to the article linked below, the PS4 has certain hardware that are not yet available on the open market for homemade PCs and the comparable price does not include peripherals such as the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and an X360 controller to rig onto the PC.

In other words, the only advantage that the PC has at this point is that it is still relatively more immune to obsolescence compared to the console whose standardized hardware makes it more prone to obsolescence. On top of that, a lot of players just can't afford to get a new computer or just don't have the general knowledge and experience required to build their own. I would know as I have done many lectures already where players have told me that they just don't have a PC and are stuck with the console.
