How do they compare to Am and Min Assaults? I've dabbled in many suits in my Dust career, but the Gal and Cal Assaults are two that never really caught my interest. Would it be a waste to start speccing into either of them if I already have Proto Min/AmAsses along with Proto CRs/ScRs/ScPs/SMGs? |

If you're going to be a Cal assault, you might as well just bend over and take it whenever you run into an Amarr assault, they will destroy you. I run Gal assault and it's good I guess. Most people stack armor and slap on an ARR on Gal assault so you could always try that. Overall though I'd say stick with those two you have now, they're the most popular because of the Min assaults versatility (insane strafing, insane jumping, insane running, insane shotgunning, insane everything) and the Amarr assaults handy bonus to lasers and ScRs which are all the rage at the moment. |

Spec into Gal assault you fool! Actually don't. No Assault Rifle and No Ion Pistol means no Gallente swag for you. Or just do whatever the **** you want. Okay, now my relevent post begins: The Gallente assault is a really nice assault. The reps it has are just soooo good. The caldari assault is Ok if you fit it properly. Its also a really good suit to snipe in..

Cal adults are awful when you try to run them as pure Caldari.
But you slap some armour plates on it...
Gallente assault is nice but most people just to weight it down with armour plates and that makes me sad. And the bonuses on both suits are kinda meh.

In fact, I have quite the collection of proto suits, but I'm looking to try something different/fun.

Just to throw this in, CCP must love me or something. In my last three strongbox attempts, I pulled three Quafe BPO items: a Quafe Methana and ScR last week, and after a week off due to a "business trip," a Quafe HMG just tonight. |

They are polar opposite in gameplay but I meant tanking wise. They have a nice armor value close to Amarr but have very high armor regen when modded properly also they're faster but they have crappy stamina and weapon bonus isn't that bad. With the coming AR buff, I'll be messing with the Gal assault a bit more.
Gallente is more suited for CQC than the amarr who are mid to long range fighters

I've been using cal assault and doing great with it
it's great with assault RR and bolt pistol
the reload speeds are beautiful
I don't have a gal assault because the ak.0 assault
does it just as good and has the scr option

Theres not much reasoning behind the caldari and gallente assaults. The caldari gets anihilated by scramblers you have literally 0 chance in a face to face fight. Gal. assaults are just bad ripoffs from the amarr if you ask me.
It basically comes down to 2 viable assaults and that is amarr and minmatarr. You want alot of damage and tons of HP then go amarr with scramblers. If you want to be fast and glitch out hitdetection with stupid strafing speed then go minmatarr and assault combat rifles.

I make sure I have enough base hitpoints a Core Locus wont take me out and then throw reps on. Allotek or Wyrokomi hives in a wide circle. Use an ARR and melt people until they have to overrun you.
The reps are ridiculous. Yes that fit is more for ranged fun. Throw an AR/Flaylock on for CQC. It gets really fun then. |

Well, I decided to skill into GalAssaults and bring all my AR skills to 4 (a buttload of SP just spent).
So far, it seems to be a happy medium between the Am and Min Assaults. It is not too slow, it can HP and rep tank, and with a BrAR, it can down most low eHP suits instantly. What surprises me with my Proto fit is how well one Complex Shield Extender works into overall survival.
Many may say that shields don't belong on a GalAssault, but from the several games I played so far, that extra 66 HP really comes in handy. Yes, I could opt for a third damage mod or even a Mylolfly Stim, but I'm really diggin' that extender. |

I do the same thing but wasnt man enough to say it lol...
It always seems to make that last bit of difference. Definitely helps with explosive damage.
Another I use is throw one PG in there, Use complex armor plates and one Kin Cat. Higher HP and Speed while still being able to use Proto Hives. Less DPS though. Comes in handy for the larger maps but harder to get that finishing shot in. |

SL is for my minnie mando. I am a brawler so gal assault would fit my playstyle but IMHO too. Fugly. Personally dont run gal assault but stacking armor and camping up high with a RR like ****** up Cal Assault seems popular.
Skilling into Min Assault as well but waiting cause soooo many run it im going to wait.

I have had the best success with the Cal assault using two complex extenders, enhanced precision scan mod, enhanced regulator on the low and a cpu mod to fit on an adv suit with an assault RR and a basic magsec to finish or use after ammo runs out on the RR.
Tried to do the high regen thing with nothing but a reg mod and rechargers. That is great for long range, but I usually get in close.
That same fit above is what I also run on an adv logi and get in close to throw down hives and links.
I am so proud when I can see that a link and hive I throw down and defend near the objective clearly makes the difference.

It... It really isn't.
I don't know how anyone can claim that 25% dispersion = 25% heat reduction on SCR.
Especially when the 25% dispersion reduction is just there to fix the shoddy accuracy that Gallente weapons have for no coherent reason.
The bonus literally is just equalizing you with the rest of the weapons, instead of empowering it like the Min or Amarr bonus.

Shields are hard mode if your looking for a challenge. Even in a well fit proto cal ass you can easily be one shorted by a scrambler. Have fun.

If you're going to spec into them, the reasons may be:
A) You're a purist.
B) You only have these suits to unlock left.
C) Slot layout and innate stats.
D) You like the looks.
You will not be smiling into them for these reasons:
A) Their bonuses. |
