Well in order its pubs for practice fw a bit on the more serious side and pc being ultimate goal as it stands. In eve (which this game is based off of btw) Ships fight for territory in fw by registering to a faction. They use lp to reinforce districts e.c.t and fight over territory. Pcs In dust its same u buy or take districts for resources. I think ccp should make it closer to eve in the sense that people should register to factions for better rewards would seperate true loyalists from flip floppers in way that if u were either gal or cal who switched sides be punished for playing the other but also unlock special rewards for playing your registered faction. Obviously If ur a cfw player u can fight for amar n purchase gear from their store like the specialists stuff but not be able to get special gear from being registered. Vice versa with gal and min since their allies.
Lets say your registered to state (and you have to be in order to purchase the following) for lvls 1-4 standing u can buy special varient equipment healing nanos or nanite injecters that cost less cpu and pg to run or higher strength.4-7 modules that are either higher value (cal shield modules, gal reps n armor example) or cost less to run or weapon which are more powerful same deal. Finally from 8-10 u can purchase loyalty suits which could have extra slots, better regen, or hp depending on suits not as great as officer gear but along those lines.
Total cost of each item lp wise would be quite a bit higher than gear found in store so not to be entirely abused suits from anywhere between 2000- to 4000 lp a piece. Mind you numbers are just examples and as stated above you need to be registered.
You dont need to register to a faction but obviously better rewards if you do want to get this type of gear. A good way to discourage switching would be if you register with a faction you automatically lose 2 standing lvls in opposite faction and can only register to one. This would immediantly halt problems.
I know this is allot and a serious change to fw but in order to strengthen the dust/eve connections this is a step in proper direction.
Lastly to either add or be its own seperate from list above registering with a faction grants 5% more lp per lvl . It could also affect how quickly you gain standing as well. A good addition for this is like above you automatically lose 2 standing rank from opposite faction and you lose standing much quicker with that faction as well.

As much as I dislike FW hoppers, I do agree that we are mercenaries and we fight for whatever makes us the most money.
BUT that being said, FW is a special case.
I have wanted factional registering to be added to the game for a very long while instead of just choosing which side you want to fight at whenever you want.
So we can take your idea of registered FW players of getting specialized gear and take it further up a notch. Let's make it so unregistered players WON'T rank up in the loyalty standings and only registered FW get to rank up for the side of their choosing.
This will make people want to choose a side but it will not hinder those who are not registered. They will still get LP, but it will be the same amount of LP for ever battle win or loss as long as they remain unregistered.

Only for new players it would matter......
One might say... I'm very skilled... yet I'm his apprentice... So what does that say about my mentor?

Wouldnt work at this point its easy to rank up two opposing factions I know someone who is rank 8 in gal and 4 in cal. People figured out how to do it already (n dont think reseting standing at this point would be a good idea)which is why I suggested that if your registered you gain standing faster but also lose standing with opposite faction twice as fast. I do agree with you though but at this point its quite a bit far into it. If any of these ideas pass primarily the registering id say lower lp and standing gained for being a free agent from what it is right now. And if your registered its increased from what it is right now.

The only thing in EVE that technically restricts ones ability to earn LP are standings and tier status. FW is won and lost by flip floppers.

In eve though you need to register in order to participate in fw which is why I think it shouldnt be a necessity but would make it more interesting. I love the idea of fighting for factions just atm there isnt much besides bpos n specialists stuff no real connection to eve or even anything that makes it stand on its own.

Hence standings. Nothing prevents you from registering for a factions but your standings with said faction. If you are dedicated enough you can alternate factions within moderate effort but the easier thing to do that most farmers do is simply have one frigate/destroyer pilot in each militia.
I agree with you. IMO the BPO, SKIN, Etc are enough but I would like to see FW agency put in player hands so we can do things of our own accord.

Thats the issue at hand for this game though to evolve it needs something fundamental. Sure new game modes help even the portal thing is quite fun but wheres the goal long term wise.To say pc is idk meh. Pc is where friends and mercs can own their own area but theres no rewards besides isk and being able to say ha we own more than you so pc ideas is next on list to come up with new ideas for.
Fac war though is a great way to improve community and overall gameplay.
