PS4 :) This game would absolutely dominate on the PS4 space atm. All these games coming out will be nice, but Dust has always been a game that can hold your attention, or at least let you come back after you're bored with your new one, and see what's up. I've made hundreds of friends from this game, and reconnecting a lot of the veterans on PS4 would be awesome.
Yes, Id pay for this game Yes, I'd subscribe monthly Yes, I'd buy a PC, but not both PC and PS4

Please then tell me why PC is better than console and which one you have. Literally write out the Pros because
PS4
Cost:400 USD Specs- Round Mid-Level Gaming PC Voice chat- Optimize Party Chat for CrossGame Speech Games( Exclusives)- Uncharted, God of War, Bloodbourne, Killzone, others Why PC is invalidated- PC titles like Planetside 2 are already making the leap to.consoles. 20 million people own PS4s, and don't need to log online to Steam Via internet to play some games (Does Steam have offline? Idk) Why Dust should move to it- I know tens of people who broke their PS3s, and didn't get new ones. They are on PS4. Imagine if one day they go to the PSN store.and see Dust on it :) Pc might have nicer graphics, but the frame rate ranges are absurd. Why do you want 210 FPS when they can and might lock it at 60? Yay, you can see shadows more defined than me PS4, big deal...

I would happily be part of a crowd fund that was exclusive to porting Dust. At this point, i don't care if it's PC or PS4. My PS3 is almost dead at this point from age.

Skihids wrote:You have to look at the business case for a port. Ask yourself what CCP would expect from its investment.
DUST was supposed to introduce the vast horde of console players to New Eden and to add a new dimension to the EVE universe. The dream was to have DUST players interact with EVE players and to write the lore together.
Right off the bat CCP's bread and butter, the EVE players, were hostile to the idea of their money going to the development of a console game. CCP stuck it out and it seemed like it might actually work for a while. Unfortunately we soon found out that CCP had no experience on either the console or FPS developement. Additionally we found that the PS3 had too many limitations to ever break free of being a small player count lobby shooter.
In addition the basic architecture of EVE and an FPS are incompatable for meaningful realtime interaction. EVE runs on a single shard mainframe in a turn based manner. Each turn is one second for normal play which is fine for a third person game. When the load gets to be too high it goes into "time dialation" where each turn takes longer than one second to process. Having our time scales shift doesn't kill simple interaction like orbital strikes, but it would be a mess if CCP wanted to implement boarding.
So what has changed in three years? CCP has a skeleton crew for a staff. The EVE players are happy to see DUST die so it doesn't interfere with funding for their game and they won't have to share power in New Eden with "console kiddies" (their term, not mine). The PS4 is new, but does even it have the power to achieve the original vision of massive battles over a large map?
What is the point of porting DUST if it is going to remain a lobby shooter isolated from the rest of New Eden? Wasn't it supposed to be "One War"? Wasn't that the whole selling point? It was supposed to expand the universe of New Eden, not just add a disconnected lobby shooter.
So what would a PS4 port bring? It would bring those console players that were the original target, so that's a plus. But would it ever achieve the orginal vision?
How a PC port? It loses out on the huge console population and risks angering a significant portion of the current player base. On the other hand it provides the best opportunity to integrate DUST with the rest of New Eden.
What would it cost? Well, CCP would have to start pretty much from scratch with a new engine. They would have to staff a fairly large development team for a couple years before they had something playable. They would have to convince the EVE players that this was a good use of their money. A PC port would probably have a better chance with that crowd.
What are the risks? Those include failure to build a decent game due to lack of expertise and the current competition in the PC marketplace. CCP has already demonstrated a lack of FPS development skills with the current game. Then there is the competition. PS2 is a favorite of the massive battle crowd and it has a significant head start. Star Citizen, though still in Alpha, promises to be a true "One Universe" game with the same character piloting capitall ships, one man fighters, and fighting hand to hand all in first person. SC has the advantage of being designed from the ground up as a single universe, a huge fan base, a ton of money, a huge skilled development team, and a head start.
If you were CCP and looking at it from a fiscal perspective what would you decide?
I would be transparent with the playerbase. We aren't asking for a port this second. But we would like anything. How much does it cost to port to PS4 vs PC? I'm positive that if it was stated, people wpuld publicly start funding. Hell I'd pledge 100 bucks immediately. What are current roadblocks to such a goal? Lack of people? Then where the hell is the Legion team? Is Legion dead? Are you waiting for something to show that will impress? Has Sony been potentially receptive to a Dust port? Do Eve Players want an FPS, as in is there a market?
Planetside 2 as people have described to me is massive...but not deep or competitive. They may add something like PC, but being able to fit 300+ players on one screen is quite an achievement on the PS4. Headstart? Absolutely. However that gap id only widening. People's PS3s are dying legt and right, including mine as of yesterday, and I am very hardpressed to buy one just for Dust. Anything, even a reason as to why a port isnt a thought atm, be it balance issues or coding, is better than silence. 07

It always will be because people want Dust to do well. The question is which will it do well best on? PS4, which is where a lot of old vets have gone and not many games could compete with Dust's uniqueness
Or PC: Highly upgradeable so it isn't heldback by console limitations, but has an extremely large competitive area of games?
At this point we shouldn't care. If Dust goes to PS4, it's better than PS3. If Dust goes to PC, it can ported later to PS4 or the PS5 or the Virtuaboy7 or whatever.
It just can't stay on the PS3. We can try and keep it here, but it's a bad idea, and not fair to this gem of a game.

This. As well as are porting this current iteration pf Dust, then tweaking more on the new system? Or shoukd the game be more polished first..

In March PS4 unit sales hit 20.2 million units worldwide. I don't have any figures on the total units as of July. On Steam alone there are 125 active accounts... that was accurate as of February this year. Not certain how many are active as of July. If EVERY SINGLE PS4 owner downloaded Dust 514 on their PS4 they wouldn't hit 17% of the Steam account total... think about that. Just by going PS4, CCP would be opting out of 104.8 million potential customers.

Put this question and request in the CPM chamber. As some of you stated, even if CCP Rattati told the CPM of a plan, they could not report back to us because of NDA. i thus rephrased the question to:
Asking CCP Rattati to tell CCP Rouge that Dust 514 could use a port, and to bring back word on Project Legion
Good news: My PS3 now turns on without freezing 40% of the time only.

Well let's see. Right here I'm going to compile a list of features that we want Dust for nextgen to have, and then we comparably compare PS4 and PC. If the PC is more expensive because the ideas more ambitious, obviously PC. But if the PS4 really is a midlevel PC, let's start with that
Dust 514 Nextgen:
Eve-Dust link with persistent events Pve- Drone infestations, possibilities to go accept Assassination merc contracts that affect Eve Suits-Pirate suits, post level 5 content More vehicles- Dropships redesigned for reaching high ground defensive areas, Mtacs as more maneuverable infatry but far more armor, Tanks for destroying Mtacs and possibly even objectives if enough damage is done Skirmish 1.0 returned Return of Corp Battles PC outside of Molden Heath Updated framerate Could take adavantage of a Vita app to check Dust fittings, mail, chatbwith corp mates What else?
PS4- Has 8 Gigs of DDR5 Ram compared to what, 256 on the PS3? That is roughly 30 times the Ram, maybe more I don't know components at all
X86- Is said to.be easier to program for
Uses up less energy than a comparable PC
Honest question: Could a PS4 handle Dust? Please no.dumb PC Master race guys, what do you honestly think?

Daddrobit wrote:For those rallying for Legion and or a port to PC in general, here's my issue with that possibility.
When you enter the PC market, you are immediately competing with literally every game ever made. Your game needs to be God tier levels of fun to maintain any level of success over a long period of time. I'm talking LOL, WOW, Minecraft, Star Craft levels of fun.
That or be a hardcore niche filler with little competition like EVE.
Legion however is just an FPS. That means it's competing with games like COD, Battlefield, Far Cry, Titanfall, Borderlands, ARMA, and Planetside. Super AAA titles that are always providing the highest level of real competitive and or fun gameplay.
And the accessibility and usability of all these games means that if someone doesn't like a particular game, it's just as easy to delete it as it was to download it and move on to any other game.
And on top of that, it's also much easier to look up ratings and reviews of games.
On PS3, to know how Dust was rated, you can either just go off the star rating the game has and say, "meh, nearly 4 stars, might as well try it," or you are forced to get off your console and go look up big name reviews.
However on PC, the reviews are right there, the thoughts on the game from everyone from Gamespot to Snip3rB0y99 on how well the game was made is sometimes available right from the same page as the download. Which means that when players bash on your game, these opinions are given much more weight on the overall success of the game as they are directly visible to everyone thinking of getting into it right from the start.
Legion/Dust would -NOT- survive on PC even anywhere nearly as well as it fared on console. With the limited number of games available to consoles, there comes a certain safety. Being one of the 15 shooters available on PS4 makes you automatically more dominant than being one of the 100s if not 1,000s of shooters available on PC.
Also I have an extreme bone to pick with every review for Dust...You can trash this game ok? I'll listen to you, especially if you complain of lag or lack of suits or whatever....but DO. NOT. TRASH. THIS. GAME. AFTER PLAYING 1 Day of it. Dust requires months, if not years for its true points to shine, and I never approved of any review where people played for two days then reviewed. I don't like it, Dust is not that game.
Also fully agree with the quoted comment.

Jathniel wrote:Why don't you guys just boycott Dust until CCP says something? You don't have the numbers to rock the server with a Burn Jita-style event, but you guys can DO *something*.
It'll accomplish one or two of these things: 1. If they get defiant and shut down Dust, then that means they had no intention of releasing Dust on PC/PS4, and they were just milking your money anyway. No harm done, and you can move on.
2. You'll force their hand to actually say something, and an actual dialog can probably be opened (with the CPM) to decide how to proceed. Just maybe you can get that NDA lifted. Our CPM has been gimped for the longest time by it; being unable to share information with us, until CCP says it's okay.
I mean... I thought the CPM inquired about a PC/PS4 port, and reported that CCP said, 'we're not planning on it right now.' or something similar. Are you guys just going to be pushovers and take that? You're just going to tolerate that kind of treatment from a company? lol
You guys are the customers... YOU have the power. You can crush Dust out of existence, or you can use your leverage to goad CCP into doing what you want. Why do so many insist on defending the current course of inaction by saying things like, "CCP owes us nothing", as if when Dust was made it was some kind of "favor"? lmao
Dust was made to make money, off of YOU. Period. If you're going to throw any money at the game at all, you need to show CCP, that you're not going to tolerate them sitting on their ass. If they want to keep making money, a future for Dust needs to be disclosed.
Do or Die.
A company will always do the bare minimum unless demanded otherwise (why do you think Wal Mart has all those aisles, but only 2 or 3 are ever actually open with huge lines?).
EDIT: @ All you guys saying 'PS4-only'. f*ck you. You are a part of the problem.
Well what you say makes sense...but I don't want to risk it. Dust, for it's cracks and faults that I read thread after thread...it still makes me want to play it. Batman is now boring after two weeks, I'm on the forums more than I play it now. CCP Rattati no doubt has asked for more resources to Dust, but CCP either quietly gave it to him, or they said no. That is not his fault. If we stop funding Dust, how will further resources for a port be found? Not from Eve, the one thing mostly keeping CCP afloat. Do or die won't make CCP say, "Holy sh!t, better make those players happy, it will make the stockbrokers say the company is losing money, cut the game. And then all us players will be left we a sea of mediorce shooters while the one gsme that we loved/hated becomes but a fond memory.
I don't want that. We are making progress under Rattati and his unnamed crew (Bless all of you if a god(s) exist) and I will continuing funding them. By not paying, you can just as easily make Dust more of a chore than make it as a bargaining chip.
The real question to your theory depends on how much does Dust mean to CCP? Without a substantial Eve link, not much.
I'm thankful for a chance to play with people I now call friends, and yes, the experience is still muddy, but it is actively being worked on. CCP could have killed Dust with Legion, just never hired Rattati to the project, and killed the servers.
We have a second chance, and I WILL hold out until these servers shut off because I have seen a Dust without hope, nd against all odds this game has clawed back fron that. Is it banging and thriving? Hell no...
But I'm not going to be the reason it croaks.
