Racial respec has been brought up and I think it's a great idea. Based largely on the fact that new players have no idea what they're doing when creating their character, nor do they know about EVE lore.
On another note, upon character creation new players should be able to watch a short video on each race that gives a brief overview of both Lore and Play style of each race, but in the mean time I have a better way to implement this.
--- Genetic Restructure ---
5,000,000 ISK + 50,000 LP of Race you want to switch to.
You would have to prove your loyalty before this would be an option.
We could say that your consciousness only functions properly in a clone similar to your original self. This would be paying to modify your genetic makeup to transfer to a clone of another race.
Surely New Eden has this technology. In fact I know it does, because none other than CCP Rattati recently performed this on himself to switch from a Gallente into a Caldari, and I know the lead developer would not do something to completely wreck immersion by race hopping himself if it were impossible
!--CCP, let's push for the license of Dust on both current Gen consoles--!

If you watch the "Immortal" video they talk about how clones function before death. They do an instant thought transfer something so this makes a lot f sense. Your consciousness can possibly be transfered to a body of desired race

This gets all my likes. But I'd still bind it more tightly to factional loyalty rank (8 or 10), less to loyalty points (LP). |

An instant clone transfer to another raceless generic clone. You can't simply return to any random custom clone, Most simply can't do that.
As for this idea, race has no baring on actual gameplay, it's purely a lore thing, so meh. Your reasoning is probably flawed though, because the only race known to do anywhere near decent genetic modification is the Jovians, and they failed hard at it. |

One can dream I suppose
