Not calling you out Bright Cloud, just making a statement in general.
Because isk. It's a PAINFUL grind obtaining it. Nobody wants to spend a majority of their game time grinding away in pubs just to run better stuff.

But, isn't exploiting these "faults" just ruining the game? I mean, now CCP will have to spend time fixing this issue rather than putting that time into something more beneficial. Sure the grind sucks, but what else is there to do? Ultimately we are fighting a battle one way or another, just snipe or run cheap suits. The argument that people can't make money by following the rules of the game is erroneous. The real problem is that people do not know how to play without running proto, or expensive suits, for whatever reason. And really there is only one reason for that, they cannot compete otherwise.
Now, I will be the first to admit I have tried running militia or some blueprint suits and cannot do it. But I seem to always have money to run proto when I want to and I achieve this without cheating. What is everybody else's excuse?
Exploits will be exploited in EVERY game. I get what you are saying though, but if there's an easy way to generate isk, people WILL exploit it regardless of how you feel about it. I honestly don't see it as wrong or right, it's there and whether you choose not to use it or not.
I assure you though, this will be fixed. I'm amazed they didn't see this comin as it's painfully obvious that BPO's could be used to exploit the system.
Though I think it does point to a larger problem when it comes to isk generation in dust. There IS a clear and obvious difference between proto and STD gear. But more to the point, why should I have to run lesser gear when I DO have the best of the best and those I'm going against (due to matchmaking) have the same.
Honestly we should be encouraged to use our better gear in some way, especially when it comes to FW. The current system does encourage that, but there is the problem of the free BPO items that have isk values comparable to STD counterparts.
I would suggest lowering the value of BPO, perhaps just in FW if possible. Considering that the suit, or vehicle, is essentially free to the user, isk value should reflect this.
Value a BPO lav at 1000 isk and that equates to 400 isk on a win and 200 isk for a loss. Assuming you win the match it would take net you 20,000 isk for losing 50 LAV's. Hardly worth anybodies time, as they could easily just run a pub and make far more than that.
Now considering doing that to BPO suits as well and you won't be making much of a profit at all running nothing but free stuff in FW. Sure you will make a little isk but is 50K isk really worth the time investment in the match to lose the amount of gear you need to even turn a very marginal profit.
