If you can finish the job with your main then a side arm is redundancy. It is only useful in hard fought strafing 1v1s... and Heimdallr excels at avoiding that and killing people before that becomes necessary.
Deadly Goliath, you have 0 knowledge of Dust history and what an overpowered suit the logi became... 1200 ehp Min Logis with hack bonuses and damage mods... nearly unstoppable Cal Logis with the TAC AR (in fact, that suit caused all of the initial nerfing that is being corrected today... shield nerfs, ar nerf, tac ar became nearly worthless vs alternates, etc). As well, Heimdallr started the gal logi fit that ran PC for 2 months about a year ago... an active armor tank suit with over 150 HP regen per tick... so I have a feeling he knows a bit more than you do on this subject.

Ha, I'm new to FPS, been playing FPS games since I was 7, and you are wrong, what if you have more than one guy, even with 100% accuracy you are fcked. Stop trying to look clever, everyone knows a sidearm is extremely useful, especially if you are using a long range weapon like the RR or LR.

Watch how you talk, I was one of those Min Logis. And any good player knows that a Sidearm is a very big part of a suit, especially if you plan on taking down multiple enemies all at once. You have 0 knowledge of FPS games if you think that a sidearm is not needed. Noob if you are not going to accept you are wrong, then at least be quiet.

After reading this, I have now realized you're a scrub forum warrior. No good player, or any player who knows how to watch his ammo count and hide, absolutely needs a sidearm. There were mercenaries who has played this game longer than you, in the days of Cal slayer logis who needed no sidearm. Back when one man logi squads could get an OB on their own. You don't just run out of ammo and 5 reds teleport to your location. Seasoned vets know how to attack and how not to place themselves in stupid positions.
So on behalf of seasoned vets and Heim, sit down scrub. Summer school sessions are starting soon...

LOL, I've been called worse by better! As I said again,back in that day Logis had extremely high health and repair/recharge and assaults, heavys and scouts weren't good, it wasn't hard for a logi to dominate. But now it is different, other suits can fight back and a logis will get destroyed even if they sprint faster. Doesn't matter how accurate you are, when two three guys walk up to you and you have your RR out, shoot as much as you want, you ain't gunna drop all of them that is why you do need a sidearm.

Despite what you claim I've been doing some tinkering and I've made a rather nice Gallente Combat Logistics with a Focused Scanner and a Wyrkomi. Has roughly the same eHP as my current assault suit, is expected to move faster, and has armour repairs on par.
Give that suit to guys like Heimdallr and they will make the suit a 'Slayer' regardless of what it is. No such thing as a slayer role anyway since every suit has a gun. What makes something a slayer is the player behind the suit.

It is literally impossible to have a 1200 eHP Min Logi. All complex modules, shield and armor, gives you 1184 HP.
It has an 8 second shield delay. It strafes at 3.67 m/s, moves at 4.07 m/s, and sprints at 5.99 m/s.
It is the definition of a shitfit.
The only logi ever to be an issue was the Cal Logi. It got the bonus to shield extenders. Hit detection was (and still kinda is) terrible, it had the TAC AR, and equipment slots weren't mandatory.

Sidearms are the best, they are the complement to your primary. In other FPS, it doesn't matter so much, they're only there for when (if) you run out of ammo. However, in this game, they are great. Sure you can play with only a primary, but the great players are those who will switch to there sidearm for a quick finish (BP/BScP) with an epic HS multiplier or equip a CQC oriented weapon with their long range primary (RR/SMG or LR/ScP)
Now, are they absolutely necessary? No. But the cool kids are those who know what their strengths and weaknesses are for each primary sidearm pairing.
