I just check in on domination games now, see if everything is going OK. make sure the blues don't make more than 1 push towards the objective. They're a lot safer 200m away from the objective.
enemy tank rolling around. check. dropship. check. tryhard in proto gear trying to farm the redline when his entire team's at the objective. check.
everything seems to be in order, at least 12 of the enemy team are inside the objective and my team are forced to engage at over 100m, as they should.
sometimes I wait it out just to see the MCC bars, a normal MCC bar is for the enemy to lose only passive ticks from their shield. the clone count must differ by 60 as well
those seem to be the unwritten rules of domination because it happens in every single game I've played for probably more than a year! I went into 3 games today and backed out within 5 minutes because I would have more fun cutting my own ******* off.
this is why games like call of duty hold such a large majority share of the FPS playerbase, FPS players DO NOT WANT THIS. |

The ISK payout system is probably to blame for most of this.
In Dust 514: As the likelihood of a defeat increases the expected payout is reduced. The logical reaction to that is to select less expensive fittings so you stop draining money. The reduced combat effectiveness means you need to maintain a defensive stance and fall back until the redline stops the enemy. Or just quit the battle and try another one.
Any other FPS: Keep pushing, you can do it! |

Matches turn out like this mostly because one team fails to bring their spines to battle. I don't know if it's a fear of dying 10+ times or what, but most blues just back out after the first push. We have this fancy new matchmaker putting evenly matched teams together, but no amount of matchmaking will ever make cowards stick around and actually try. Of course, then there are the technical difficulties that plague this program; it's almost impossible to summon the motivation to mash the tryhard button when you can literally count your frame rate off with your fingers.
For all that a lot of doms turn out like this, there are still several a day that are terrific fun. Well, as long as you bring a full squad with you.

Try acquisition. Last battle, we got the ****** map where we spawn outside the redline, so we had 2 HAVs camping our spawn.
I snuck out with one of my BPO fits, dropped an uplink in our redline, called in a mCRU viper, and sat the match out getting +25 and +50 team spawns. Unfortunately, most of the players who spawned on my dropship were retards, and would rather shoot the unguarded CRU across the map than hack it.
