50 mill starting point. Go for it! Make LP skins absolutely pointless if that is your goal, this is New Eden so do what you want. Until then I'm going to advise against it. Carry on.
How would the skin be pointless if I only sell it for less than you? It would still function exactly the same, so unless they are worthless now(which I think they are), there is no change in their value.
One could make an argument that because I would distribute them at a far more reasonable price, there would be more buyers, and more skins out in the wild, which would in my opinion increase their value.
A skin that you only see once in a blue moon and is priced out of affordability because of grandiose dreams of importance and misjudged time/value considerations is what is actually worthless.
Look at the unique ships in eve. The last Imperial Geddon, the Raven State Issue, the Stratii Emergencies, etc. are all fundamentally worthless because you can't realistically undock them. You could make a case for the SER to be usable, Big Lynx did get on a KM with his, but mostly they are just hangar ornaments, and as such, their actual value in game is nil.
Are they worth the trillion ISK being asked for them? Of course not, and their current holders will enjoy their decorations until someone has enough ISK to literally waste of something for ship spinning. They might as well not even be in the game anymore.
Besides, in New Eden, every faction good can be acquired easily and relatively cheaply, keeping that trend going is in the interest of all players.

Making the Loyalty suits trade-able is probably the one thing that really makes faction warfare a huge success. I understand the loyal to their faction kind of guys, I think it's great. But the sooner that those suits are trade-able the sooner people will be buying faction boosters like crazy.
Put a queue sync together and just roll over people. Something like this would have groups like Negative-Feedback coordinating boosters and pushing a faction until they've earned enough for a few suits each and then move on. You've got people that are loyal to their faction and would have a lot more potential to put real, organized PC worthy teams together with such incentives to offer potential members.
You'd have to think other people would realize the potential. I've always thought FW was the area where CCP could really cash in. If enough groups got going on this you'd have potential for fireworks in PC as well.
There's a lot of stuff happening at the moment with suits as well as another currency coming. There are a lot of people that get really sensitive about the economy. That said I think it's time to offer the chance at riches and the chance to just throw down whenever and wherever in the shiniest stuff you've got. Even if it's not that, the game needs a spark. People need to stop hoarding and hiding and throw down.

I want it known that having Rattati touching base with the forums today will be the reason I even play Dust again anytime soon. I started my first character back in 2013 and after all this time and issues CCP has had only god knows why i'm still here. Swear it feels like CCP's been cursed sometimes with so much bad luck. Anyway thanks Rattati for being tough enough to subject yourself to angry players today when I know it would have probably been easier not to.

In the spirit of "old school" gaming and the CCP mantra of "HTFU", make players WORK for them. Let these marine skins be a true statement of dedication and effort.

I think I'm going to be the first one to vote against this. I think they SHOULD be tradeable, especially if we're talking about the "New Eden spirit".
In EVE, you need to grind LP to buy things from the LP store, that people then sell in Jita. Making EVERYTHING tradeable and not hidden behind an artificial barrier IS the true "New Eden spirit".

Keeping Marine SKINs nontradeable will uphold their status as a true symbol of loyalty, their intended purpose. For those wishing to convert their masses of LP into sweet sweet ISK, there are still viable outlets such as APEX suits, Specialist weapons, and equipment better than proto.
I agree with this. Loyalty items should be earned, not bought second hand.
I think the strong box skins should be tradable asap. I got a serpentine skin for Galente medium frames which I have no intentions of skilling into. |

These Items should be tradeable. Obviously I have a biased view since I am eager to sell off my minmatar skin I just grinded out. But I don't think hampering FW players options makes sense. The pool of players who can grind out large amount of LP is relativeley small, so the number of these items ending up on the market will probably be fairly small as well, I doubt their significance will end up diluted as a result of them becoming tradeable.

Fug I get frustrated with the culture of CCP. Yeah, let's do the things that this guy says! You know what Rattati? I am sick of your vain attempts at trying to be "one of the guys". I can't get into a battle. I've been trying for 10 hours now. I don't give a frick about your quips. When the game isn't working and you are yucking it up on the forums, it looks like shiite. "What this guy says". This is why we can't have nice things open developer discussion I have no respect for sycophants. There is a time for discussion and a time for doing your goddamn job.
And CCP Rattati's job includes coming to the forums looking for our feedback WHICH HE JUST DID IN THIS THREAD.
But I guess devs being deeply involved with the community that is behind their game is such an alien concept for you. Either that or you need one of two things:
1. Someone to help you pull that Rebar out of your butt hole.
or
2. You need time off and go to a strip joint.
