The issue I speak of is one that I've brought up until I'm blue in the face. Lack of effort, passive play, and fear of competition. We have a playerbase far more concerned about accruing SP, ISK, and other assets than winning matches.
I joined a random squad finder squad and we were in a hard fought match. Our team was getting overwhelmed and the cries of proto started up. I just asked, why not break some out and win this match?? It was like I asked them all if I could bang their significant other.
I've just never been able to put the passive mindset together with the hoarding concept, what are people earning this SP for? What are the items they are accruing going to be used for? When do they plan on transitioning from hoarder to fighter? wtf i can't reply

This game has several unique elements that are by themselves a great concept but working together makes the game terrible. It will never work. Not in this type of game. I am talking about the economy in itself and how everything interconnects.
What is the value of isk? People are hoarders because the game encourages it. The main way most people earn isk is to grind. Sounds like a typical MMO but grinding is boring as hell. The whole point of grinding is to be able to reward yourself later with something else!!! Most MMO's have other aspects to spend their rewards and efforts on. We only have a combat arena and the elitists are mixed in with the grinders. There is no differential.
CCP can solve this by removing their new bad match making and subcategorize their game modes with proto, assault, and standard and prevent you from spawning in unless you have an appropriate suit.
Making item generation and crafting better won't work in making people use better stuff either. With only a combat arena of different maps I just don't see it becoming such a controlling factor. Item crafting works great in other types of games but here it is a gimmick that everyone without a degree in game design screamed for. It could be vastly improved but it's meh. Alot of people won't bother to put enough effort into a system like that in a game like this.
Teircide is a fan favorite. I don't feel it is the way to go however. That would fundamentally change the game as it is. Diversity is dust's strongpoint I don't want to feel like I am nerfing it.
Too be honest I just want to either put gear limitations on entering matches or just remove isk altogether. Once you unlocked a weapon you can use it forever. This works best in most shooters. Screw this broken economy. Either remove isk or use it for something else. Don't force players to feel like they need to grind and then mix in the grinders with the people actually trying to enjoy their efforts. That is really dumbdesign imo. Dust can hardly be called an mmo and adding mmo based gimmicks to it won't make it so much more amazing. Dust is unique enough as it is. What needs improving is the core of how dust actually works. This is how you save a game. By knowing what you are actually doing and how the dynamics of a game and how fun actually works.

When you are calculating your financial situation you are not "playing" or being "strategical". Save the strategy for ingame, in actual matches. If I wanted to work with money and numbers I would have been an accountant. I'm a killer not an accountant.
The whole system is flawed anyways. Would never work in a game like this. This is not and never will be a true mmo. enough with the gimmicks and fix the core of the game already.

I run adv gear mostly it doesn't cause you guys any tears and sure makes me happy to shoot you in the face. And besides we are trying to make it fun with a EVE feeling not "we ****** up turn it into COD". People actually try harder to win in COD which is terribly sad. Ridiculously sad. I hate cod but omg. Seriously. People are so blind to game design.
Go ahead and save your isk and call it strategizing and pat yourself on the back. The matches are lopsided and there is nothing you can do to change that. You have offered no advice or suggestions to improve this. Give me an alternative that sounds like it might actually work... otherwise your response does not hold much value.
Running advanced gear may be a solution for you but obviously not everyone else in the game is doing this. This is how the game already works and you are using the system to the best of your ability like everyone else is but the matches are still so lopsided. being smart with your gear does not seem to change anything.

Nachos wrote:Prototype gear is expensive, busting it out in pub matches would mean that payouts would have to be increased to support the value that prototype gear costs so you can keep playing. That is why planetary conquest was invented, well slightly. It was also invented to connect the EvE universe with Dust 514.
Public matches are like the 'grinding' grounds for SK for new layers that don't compete in PC yet. They bust out a frontline suit, basic even and start killing. Rewarded with ISK and hopefully they made a profit. FW is like the competitive grounds for players who still don't compete in PC battles; this is where you can bust out ADV gear or PRO gear to win the match.
as long as public matches are known as grinding grounds... they will ALWAYS BE A JOKE.
Defining how things are working already is not really a solution. We are all already well aware how this game currently works.
