You get one armor hardener or shield hardener on a tank and give hardeners a moderate buff the same thing was done with microfibs to good result this is probably one of the best ways to balance tanks

I agree with this post. Also, since the blasters can rip through shields like wet toilet paper, buff the hardeners to 70% damage reduction. |

It's a shame everybody fits their tanks the same.
I would like to see an incentive to make different fits, through buffing / nerfling various modules.
I would hope physically locking people out of different fitting combos as a last resort.

I think really (and I feel bad for Rattati having just redesigned tanks about a billion times) we need to separate health modules from utility modules... That would be the only way to get people using different builds, because no matter what, more health always has to come first.
If tanks had a sort of "equipment" slots, we could have maybe 2 or 3 of them (and less regular slots, obviously) and use them to fit things like scanner/CRU/Fuel injector/Ammo packs... Leaving the regular slots to decide between the usual PG/CPU upgrades, Damage-Amp, HP, reps & boosters.
Putting PG/CPU upgrades, damage mods or even boosters/reps in the equipment slots would just result in the same builds we have now... Stack hp and damage. |

or just remove vehicles from the game
with one proto shield hardener you would need like 75% reduction
60% proto on armor
otherwise people will be soloing 'proto' tanks with starter fit swarms and av nades. |

Not unless the drivers are completely incompetent they won't be.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

I think the way forward should be to reduce reps whilst hardeners are active.

The hardeners are not an issue in and of themselves, it's a combination of modules creating an issue. In fact, EVE has an emphasis on hardening and repairs with Caldari getting great resistances and Gallente focusing heavily on repairs (which make resistances important.)
What we have is an imbalance in numbers. Shield HAVs are actually pretty balanced; Armour HAVs have superior hardeners (longer uptime, shorter downtime, same resistance), have higher HP potential and have superior repairs (higher achievable rate, cannot be stopped) - and this is in the current meta which is almost entirely anti-armour dominated.
Basically, armour modules need retuned, not having a fitting restriction which would be an incredibly heavy handed change that would not actually help the situation in a healthy way.

Actually, there are few different schools, maybe three main and some extravagant ones.
Some gambit with low HP, some go max hardener way, some go for balanced method. Some prefer utility and team support.
Granted the differences aren't that big and that it's very hard for untrained eye to recocnize the fits from outside.
Looking at both sides of the coin.
Even Aurum one.

Seriously dude, you act like vehicles are a victim. Vehicles, especially Armor are OP AF.

It's true there are a few, but most are non-viable in the way that they will get destroyed if even 1 person on the other team knows what they're doing.
Heck I even pull out the quad dmg-mod rail Gunni to go "all or nothing" against the ocasional protato madruga... Or if they're full reps even a penta dmg-mod Missile Gunni will make them poop themselves (though the range makes it a bit iffy staying alive long enough to get the missiles out.
Though I'll be honest, gank tanks are pretty boring, really only for when the other team is going full scrub to bore your team to death.
I feel utility tanks are mostly just around because they're better than the alternative dropship/LAV.

I actually quite enjoy putting shield boosters on my protato madruga, it was an experience if nothing else... Really buggers those av grenade spammers... Not so good against officer forge guns though (Where's my officer tanks damn it?!)

those three schools are viable at their task and purpose. I run a support maddy that uses only one hardener. it does just fine. i honestly just dont engage other vehicles without support, which is fine since its a support tank.
my gunnlogi is working with proto and complex everything now finally after i tested a new fit. its nice and does it job as a long range attacker.
the thing is that its just not about that all in one tank fit anymore.
the dual rep + dual hardener maddy fit though... thats just too much. everyone agrees, even the tankers. |

gal scouts with av nades and plc would wreck tanks.
you cant see them and they can jump over your tank.
but honestly its not the hardeners that are the problem. its the maddy's dual repp that become too strong when the hardeners become active. imagine a maddy with dual plates instead of reppers? that would still be strong, but it wouldnt be able to to sit there immune to all dps thrown at it. |

Laughable, the gunnlogi is the only thing you would hurt with this.
I don't even run duel reps on my maddie anymore to begin with. Double plates, rep, hardener, slays just as well if not better. Get gud scrubs.

Because armor tanks can just stroll out of the redline and sit in front of you an entire match while you shoot swarms at it right?
I don't think you understand what OP means.
it's 30 seconds of ONE swarmer not popping EVERY VEHICHLE THAT COMES OUT OF THE REDLINE
Its players like you that have ruined the game, now all we have are minmitar moon jumpers and heavies standing on objectives. Bravo. Super fun. Half the vehicles can't get out of the redline and all the caldari suits are garbage unless they are breaking hit detection to survive. And instead of helping the garbage aspects stand a chance you want to NERF the only vehicle that has a chance to last 30 seconds against ONE SWARMER. Vehicles aren't the victims, the GAME is the victim, thanks to MORONS posting on the forums being taken seriously.
Carry on though, ask for more vehicle nerfs so that when the game shuts down on day zero due to NO ONE PLAYING at least you can stand on a building and blow up absolutely everything anyone tries to call in. Thanks for making the game better! |

if Armour HAV's were OP then why can they be popped with just 3 lai dai pckd nades?.
ever try killing a shield tank with lai dai pcked? good luck.
armour tanks get shredded by swarm and av nade combo. shield tanks get ABSOULTEY mutilated from even basic flux nades even with double hardners.
HAV's arnt that bad to deal with when you know your combos.
rep fits are stong vs swarms. but weak vs forges and av grenades. (damge over time vs alpha) hardner fits are strong vs forge guns but weak vs swarms and grenades(again AV and flux nades)
balanced fits ironically are the most diffuicult type of tank to deal with due to of course their balanced nature and versatility. they have decent hp but not as much as a pure buffer but better rep rate. less rep rate than repping fits but better hp ceiling to resist Alpha damage.
honestly HAV's arnt all that difficult to get rid of.
please note iam comeing from being a Tanker since e3 build and also from running av suits my self.
p.s don't fight tanks alone. try fighting in pairs and watch that damge rake.,
