Rattati is more invested than the previous devs, and it shows. But that doesn't stop him for stepping on landmines which could have been avoided by a more holistic individual. The skill of playing does not equal intellectual ability to understand or know game development.
The skills aren't transferable.
A professional athlete doesn't necessarily understand kinesiology but that doesn't diminish their skill. A person whose profession centers on a proffesional undersanding of kinesiology doesn't necessarily mean they are highly physically skilled.
The CPM's job is to communicate with the community and work as a sounding board for CCP's ideas. The intlectual capacity to fulfill this obligation does not transfer over to KDR or anything else.
A redline sniper could easily have a high KDR and not be qualified for CPM. Duna is not qualified as CPM and has no sense of balance or what is best for the game as a whole.
The same goes for FotM chasers.
What is needed are people who are creative enough to theory craft and reasonable enough to prevent any possible bias from having too much influence in their input.
