Hey Rattati can we get better additional performance by doing the same thing with weapons using the skin system?
20 bucks of aurum says that each of the weapons is doing the same thing as dropsuits.
Perhaps adding a second skin slot on the dropsuit SPECIFICALLY FOR THE RENDERED WEAPON will allow you to save on render bloat there as well since, for example, a viziam scrambler rifle and templar scrambler have no discernable difference in animation.
This also allows CCP to drop each weapon to a single discrete model as well.
I mean as long as we're on the bandwagon for streamlining the database for performance why the hell not?
Plus it allows you CCP devs to sell weapon skins too.
STREAMLINE ALL THE THINGS!!!
Seriously I think this was why uprising came off as a total sh*tshow to the playerbase as a whole when the fanfest demo was smooth as butter.
It could just be the amount of memory allocated to pre-load all of the fittings with so many discrete models.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

I think it would be awesome if we could make 'weapon fits', instead of fitting a dropsuit you get to fit a weapon instead...
Weapon, power core, SKIN, optics, etc. etc.
And then we can put that weapon fit in on the dropsuits.
I'd like that. Especially the bit about being able to put a scope on my AR. :-)
Gallente Lag Facility is CCPs way of saying just how much they care about YOU, their player base.

But if that wouldn't work just give us 2 Base versions of the AR, one with a scope and one without. |

I mean, I wish they'd kept with their 2006 concept art of giving us stripped-down frames of guns and letting us put parts into them to make them work as we wish: http://i.imgur.com/QXrHYe1.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IDc9wSn.jpg

I'll take any improvements I can get.

So little time to do all this stuff...
I like this idea.
