It just really deeply pisses me off because my fiance is smart! She has a 4.0GPA, already a junior in only her 2nd year of college because she did so much so well she totally did two years worth of her four year college tenure in 2 and she's on her way to a new school to continue her major and she has added two minors. Moral of the story...she's very busy. She's brilliant and she's not afraid to work HARD and she wanted to play MY favorite game with me and she ended up liking it until she was kicked from the battle academy and met with top tier protostompers. She said its not fair and she's right. Its crap. I'm seriously pissed about it because not only does the NPE ruin the chance of growth for the game and for us to make new friends but its also jaded MY fiance from doing something I (and could have been WE) enjoy. I tell her let the SP build, we'll come back at another time and try again when we can get her at least some advanced gear or so.
make her an account of her own if she doesn't have one already, log in daily to her account to claim the daily sp and to upgrade the warbarge let the passive sp do its thing for a couple of months
let her play on your account to see what she wants to skill into (scan precision range and dampening skills are recommended to max first) make sure she gets to play with all the racial combat suits to see what her account should be built on amarr might be the best for a beginner but depending on what weapon she likes best that should dictate what her account should be. this doesnt matter too much if you decide to buy the elite or vet packs due to the BPO's
after about 3 months when a decent amount of sp has accumulated, I recommend leveling the warbarge until the sp (neural battle statistics center) is unlocked and leveling that as much as possible for more passive sp gain
if you have the money buy her the vet pack or elite pack $49.99 or $99.99 USD
this should be enough to get her to a good enough starting point, even if you dont have the cash to spend on the vet or elite packs she should still have enough sp to specialize to some degree

Id like to add that I started off at a very bad time things in dust were changing fast and I didn't know anything about what I was doing, but I started doing some research and watching vids on youtube learning as much as possible, I've only been playing for about a year and I made at least half my sp back before the weekly sp cap was increased, 10 mill sp I am at about 21 currently
the cap went from about 190 to 750 so that was a huge difference I used to cap every week in about 2-3 days now I usually don't even cap
so it takes a while but investing some time even if its just an hour a day can get you to a good spot
I myself have not bought any of the packs If I had the money I would, it defiantly helps
what I recommend to do is to get these packs and only que for Acquisition matches, that way you can die as much as you want and play as reckless while learning the game, using the BPO's to gain a decent amount of isk to spend on better gear latter on |

Thanks for the story Michael.
NPE has to be close to the top of the list for things we really gotta get a handle on. It costs us players every day.
The biggest easy(?) change i'd like to see for new players in pubs is the removal of shared scans, which benefit vets and stompsquads a hella lot more than noobs.

Mate i went through hell as well and back when i started you used to graduate from the academy after 4-5 matches (Some wp limit) Did i give up? Did i complain on forums? I went through those hardships, worked day and night and bam i finally unlocked adv gear. I'm still only on 18 mil but i can very well handle a stomper and not feel bad about getting killed. I still get a negative kdr but i never give up. My point is some people just don't wanna work hard. You can't build wonders in one night. My advise 'git gud' or melee them blues.

A solo newbro has near zero odds against veteran stompsquads or HAV pilots. If Low Mu / High Mu isn't working well enough on its own -- and PvE is a non-option -- what if we converted Ambush (or another mode) to a squad-free, vehicle-free queue? You could even put a meta cap on it. Having somewhere for casuals to play would likely help with the case of Michael's fiance and it just might help with headcount and daily logins as well. Theres a place for new players called academy
Problem is ccp likes to troll them
How else do you explain the 1200wp or 5000wp till graduation ?
Needs to be one hundred thousand wp till graduation
No?
Then get used to barely 2900 tops on the weekend 2500 tops weekdays
Problem is its trending to barely 2400 tops weekend and 1800 tops weekdays in a few months |

That's good to hear. I will admit deep down I know they are trying and they are a small group trying to make this game work. My view and impression of the game/staff right now is comming from a place of high frustration. Just feels like one second I get a little traction only to lose a mile of footing the next.

The game was a lot better before that super strafing circular wiggling nonsense. I worry about such things for my fiance too....how is she, a brand new player and never played a FPS before in her life going to have any sort of chance against guys that can move in a circle and blap you in a blink of an eye? Its crap. Total crap. Absolute garbage.
Do you think all FPS games should cater to players that have never played the genre before? One of the things I enjoy about this game is that it builds off of things I learned in a variety of shooters but makes me feel like a complete greenhorn at the same time.
I'm a new player who regularly gets stomped, btw.
