I really think that the maps are big enough that this could very well be a nice bonus skill to add as well as it's toolgun.
For anyone who doesn't know what the translocator was, it's a teleporting gun from Unreal tournament 2004, now, it had limits and wasn't a point and teleport gun.
It fired a Disc that had drag and could be fired on ledges, cliffs, and other hard to reach spots, making traversing the battlefield much more fun and less boring. it worked by firing ( right click ) a disc and then once you wanted even in midair left click for the teleport to disc feature.
Have to admit realism is fun until you start mimicking the boring stuff, like walking 4 miles.
Anywho, just an idea feel free to flame and rant me.

That's why we have we have vehicles that can be brought down at a moments notice. And Dropships.
Need to get to a higher elevation? Call in for one of your dropship team members. If you really want to teleport to the front lines quick, commit suicide and spawn in a logi craft near the front lines. We call that a Blood jump. |

this isn't for the long distance teleport, this is a combat specific teleport for short distance, almost like a shadow step.
I see what you are talking an I do use that, but sometimes you need to get up high faster than a dropship nor jeep can be summoned, and a quick wep change could have me short distance jumping, could tie into stamina counter. |

Dust mercs don't use teleporters, they drop empty clones where they want to be and shoot themselves in the face to get there. |

this would be game breaking for the dust maps... Entrances would no longer have to be defended or attacked. An entire squad could come up to any random compound wall and teleport right to the other side. It would be too tactic-breaking IMHO, and would lead to a manic clusterf*** of a match where luck has more to do with winning. |

Just does not fit with EvE tech. We can only make things large on the inside than outside and kick it though a massive wormhole. |
