If you started cooking it, you must commit to it.
You should not be able to constantly keep a core locus grenade at the ready.

You should not be able to constantly keep a core locus grenade at the ready. Can I ask why? Please don't give me some IRL you can't reason. To be honest I am all thumbs and dont even know how to kook it and put it away. Because it's an insanely powerful weapon, and you don't have to commit to using it.
That means that if you hear the core locus start cooking, even if you escape you didn't waste his grenade, he can just be ready with it when you come back.

Well what if for every tenpit away, the next time thrown it explodes in half the te and so on I would imagine that's harder to code, unnecessarily so.

Would make Sentinels think a hell of a lot more before committing to that long arse reload if they can't just sprint out of it. HMG ammo is not supposed to be a limited strategic asset you use in specific situations.

You should not be able to constantly keep a core locus grenade at the ready. Hmmm....interesting. Would these changes also apply to scrambler rifes? You can charge a scrambler and switch to sidearm without incurring the overheat, essentially keeping it charged at the ready. And Ion Pistol etc. You can avoid the drawback by switching weapons, just like a grenade. Just something to think about. Hmm... Interesting idea actually. Could help balance the SCR, though I don't believe the Ion Pistol needs to be hit.

Once the spoon drops, there's no turning back. ROFL, yeah, just press R2 and you undo the grenade.

You're able to cancel a reload at a percentage into the reload meaning the rapid reload skill lets you cancel sooner. Sure it doesn't make sense but it's a mechanic in most first person shooters. Actually, I know exactly why it exists. Back in earlier betas, we would always complain that once the reload animation looked done, we would start sprinting, but in reality it was just at the end of it so we would lose all of our progress.
This mechanic exists to give us a "cushion" to avoid such annoyances.
