What I got so far:
Blood Laws
These are the laws of the Artugians. Breaking the laws results in immediate death.
1. Artugians must work together to survive.
2. Artugians can not draw Artugian blood with their claws.
3. Death is natural, do not mourn.
4. The Great Leader is not above the Blood Laws, but must be respected.
Rite of Passage: The Blood Rite
Artugians are always born as twins, one male and one female. They grow together and fight together. When they come of age, they must go through the Blood Rite together.
The Blood Rite is the Artugians rite of passage that all Artugians must go through in order to be considered part of society. Before they complete the Blood Rite, they are considered children and are not protected by Blood Laws, which means killing them with claws won't bring any backlash onto the killer. After the Blood Rite, they are considered adults, and Artugians in full.
The rite is conducted in the first full moon after the 10th year of birth. The twins enter the tidal pools and receive the Blood Mark from the Great Leader. After receiving the mark, all lights are extinguish and the twins fight to the death.
The victor must then rip the heart of their dead sibling and consume it. The belief is that their souls were separated at birth and consuming the heart makes their soul whole again.
The Rite of Leadership: Durna
Durna is a sacred ritual conducted once a challenge of leadership has been made. One can challenge either the Great Leader or (in times of war) a superior officer. It is conducted the same way as the Rite of Blood, however, as both are Artugian adults, claws cannot be used as they are under protection of the Blood Laws.
Durna begins right at sunset in the tidal pools. The two fight to the death, naked, with no weapons. The victor must, just like the blood rite, consume the heart of the fallen.
Death Rituals
Because food is scare on their native island, Artugians are cannibals. When an Artugian dies they consume the seada flesh. The only exception is if an Artugian died of illness. They believe the meat to be tainted and they won't consume it.
The bones are thrown into the sea and the skull is given to the Great Leader to place on his Throne of Skulls.
Greeting Customs
When greeting each other, Artugians general say "Strong Winds", the appropiate response is to reply "Good Fortune". The younger of the two meeting speaks first. The only exception is when talking to the Great Leader, he always speaks last.
When greeting Artugians formally, you make a fist and press it to your heart. You then bow and say "May strong winds bring you good fortune." The response is to place a fist on your heart, bow, and say "And may they bring you home."
When leaving, the person leaving speaks first, wait for the response, and then leaves.

Part Two
Beliefs
Artugians are naturally Diests, in the sense that they do not believe in a single God but are accepting all of faiths and creeds. They do not argue over which gods to worship or praise and believe everyone is entitled to their own religions and beliefs.
However they have a strong connection to their ancestors and believe that if they keep to their Blood Laws and rituals their Ancestors will bless them. They do not worship their ancestors though.
Culture
Artugians are hard working and try to keep busy. Even the younglings work at gathering wood, and other resources they can manage to pick up. Their work philosophy is this: "If I don't do it, someone else will and it won't be as good."
They try their best to help one another, even the ones they believe are cursed. They also have a mutual respect for one another but won't hesitate to chastise someone if they mess up. However most disputes are brought before the Great Leader to settle.
Will add more later.

True, I guess that the Artugians could create spears dipped in Artyee venom or even send in the Artyee to suduce the Tal-Man soldiers in order to scratch them slightly to put the venom into their system...
Or a universal surrender in order to work as servants and destroy them from the inside...
So many plans...

It would just make it harder for them to inject the venom in their claws but would not fix the problem. Pretty much there is a venom sac that produces it. Also keep in mind the venom that females have is different from female to female. So making an anti venom can be a bit rough be very doable if you milk all the women.
Artugians can also be a cunning bunch so you might need to watch out for the males too. They are also ruthless and only have one rule in a fight: No claws. But then again the no claws law only applies to Artugians...
I'm not trying to talk you out of trying to enslave them, just keep in mind they already have a harsh life.
I just realized if you go through with this, the Artugians would be exposed to more advanced technology and would be "raised up" so to speak. So in a way the Artugians would be like the Minmatar and the Tal-Man would be like the Amarr!

However the younglings sent into the woods shouldn't be captured immediately, I would suggest you either search for them or let them go.

Correction, 32 children (8 died while climbing into the village) five adults (including the great leader) and a hand full of Parics. There might be others that survived the attack.
Thing is I would think that the survivors would be heading to the tree village seeing as that's where their children are, Artuga only ever had one village.

I've also been looking to properly perfect the Mur fighting style so it is not too reliant on a relatively modernised tactic and I eventually settled primarily on Long Spear and Roundshield fighting like the Celts employed against their enemies.
Lines remain flexible but disciplined as the Mur fluidly look for sections of enemy lines to exploit. Still heavy use of Irregular formations, Skirmishers, and Sabotage but no real lined formations. The redeeming feature of this is that each Mur has a lot of mass behind him or her so given enough mommentum they could plough through a shield wall (though not one of the races like the Tal-Man and Cathay Raht or Mur who have established super human physiques) and I leave out Artugians because they don't seem......'ready' for the shield wall.
Artugians mock the need for shields instead relying on agility and cunning to avoid being hit... Though in hindsight shields would of been really f*cking useful when the Tal-Man invaded :/

Out of curiosity, seeing as the Artugians believe in the power of their ancestors, would they be able to cast certain spells with the right incantations?
I am thinking for battle purposes they could use it to call down their Ancestors to increase their strength and agility in battle (similar to the Haka in both movements and meaning), for healing purposes they could call out to their Ancestors in song.

What I was thinking was that when they appeal to their ancestors, the ancestor would choose whether or not aid those who called out to them. When the ancestors choose the Artugian, there is a physical change to them, eyes glow red, hair goes white and their skin goes darker.
Their strength and speed increase and if they speak they speak with two voices. However the Ancestor chooses when to leave the body and if they leave, the Artugian the ancestor possessed dies, even if their body is perfectly fine. If the body is destroyed, the ancestor leaves.
Only the Artugians who mark themselves and perform the ritual (not going to call it a Haka even though it was inspired by it) are eligible to be possessed.
Keep in mind I would only use this if its okay with the rest of you guys.

sir RAVEN WING wrote:Good point.
Every magic should have it's own downside.
If you are planning on using a magic, post it here along with a proposed downside if you have one.
Alright here's mine, I've worked out all the details for it.
The Vur'ak - The Cry to the Ancestors.
It is the closest the Artugians will ever get to having Magical Powers of any sort. It is dangerous to perform and can have unexpected consequences. It is a plead from an Artugian to his/her ancestors to aid them or to guide their people. No matter what, the Artugian that begs will die.
It is performed by first having an Artya carve intricate designs along the Artugians skin, this is to help connect the Artugian to his/her ancestors (This is the only thing an Artyee can not do because of her venom) (Also think T-ü moko and kirituhi). This is a long process and usually cursed Artugians are premarked as this is the only honor they can hope to achieve in life.
One the Artuguans body is prepared, they strip down to nothing and chant in the old tongue. While chanting they use their claws and slash at their chest, and preform a war dance. The chant differs depending on intent. If one wishes for their Ancestor to aid them in a battle their movements would be more aggressive and their chant will speak of war and blood shed. If they seek wisdom, their dance is less aggressive and their chant speaks of legends and things past. They continue their movements and chant until an Ancestor appears.
Once the Ancestor appears, one of two things can happen. The Ancestor takes control and posses the Artigian performing the ritual or the Ancestor kills the one performing and takes their soul to the other side. Once possessed, the Ancestor has full control and the Artugian who performed dies. The ancestor stays as long as they wish or until their vessel is destroyed.
A possessed Artugian looks different from those that arnt. Their skin is always darker and their eyes glow red. Their red hair will either go white (if they were summoned for wisdom) or jet black (if summoned for war). The markings on their skin will always glow red.
The wisdom passed from white haired possessed is usually superficial and sometimes funny. However before they leave the mortal world again, they will give one truth to an Artugian, who will then be rendered mute.
The black haired possessed gains is a brilliant and ruthless tactian and possessed slightly increased speed and agility. However to remain bound to the world, they must always shed blood, so they are always destroyed by the Artugians after a battle is done or else they risk it turning on them.
At any time the Ancestor may get bored and leave. There have been times where in the middle of battle a black haired just decided to leave while strangling someone.
Tl;Dr
-Summoning an Ancestor kills the summoner -Two Types Wisdom and War -Wisdom usually trolls but gives one truth -War usually keeps killing and must be stopped after a fight -Sometimes the summoning doesn't work or the Ancestor decides to leave early.

Well Artugians don't work for themselves. So they arnt naturally selfish. However they do not tend to cry over the suffering of their loves one nor their death. However they will protect themselves if need be and can hold a grudge for generations (working on a few things that will happen between tribal descendants).
The best way to force them into line would be to break their claws publicly. Breaking their claws is humiliating and they do it only in wedding ceremonies as a way to show their spouse (or spouses) that they are willing to suffer the humiliation of broken claws.
Its humiliating as they cannot enter Marthal without using their claws to climb the trees.

Just curious, seeing as the Mur and Artugians are friends (or at least friendly with each other), would anyone object with me skipping forward a month or two and the Mur having taught the Artugians ship building techniques and possible minor metal working (thinking that the main weapon for the Artugians would be bladed staff their armour being very minimal, would be just leather with a small plate over the heart).

That being said this is not knowledge any of your characters know Vash nor is it knowledge the Artugans would ever give up willingly.
That is true, but I guess Vash can figure out by trying different methods of punishment including claw breaking.
Also this what I was thinking for staff weapon and armour. Best photos I could find of what I was thinking.

Starting to work on different t splinter Artugians tribes. Introducing the Cursed Tribe:
Made over 200 years ago when K'lo a female Ancestor of Jon decided she didn't want any Cursed Artugians to live amongst them. So she banished them from Artugian lands. If they choose to returned they would be killed in the worse possible way imaginable.
Over the years there have been small skirmished between the Artugians of Durna (main tribe which you have encountered so far) and the Cursed Ones, in each one it ended with Ancestors being called in.
Jon sent a cursed youngling to seek them in their village near the volcano to ask for their help as they are planning on sailing north to find the Tall Ones.

You are right, she only attempted to attack and so no Blood Law was broken, however if she did attack she would turn into a dark ancestor, or so the legend goes, was going to have Jon explain it in my next post.

It is risky. When you summon an Ancestor, even for good intentions, you run the risk of summoning a dark ancestor. I roll a d20 to decide what happens (odd = dark, even = good)
After two weeks the vessel they inhabit starts to degrade, after a month they are gone. If it is a dark ancestor however, they tend to go when there is nothing to kill or they get put down. Keep in mind an Ancestor can decide to leave whenever they want and can still be killed like everyone else.

Yeah kind of figured she would either die on the isle or on the way. I'm still writing on what happens when her body starts to degenerate. I'm thinking rapid aging with the death being light bursting from the skin in a non violent way.

They're the Jack and Rose of this RP that the Mur are going to be making books, legends, and cheesy **** spin offs of hundreds of years into the future. Also you are damn right about those hybrids. Hmmm I think he might, Jon did say he is going to talk to the elders about making Sia'tri and Honorary Artugian so in spirit he would be, so technically he would be considered an Artugian Ancestor when he dies. It would be interesting to see Sia'tri in an Artugian body!

**** the story is coming along nicely.
It will all come clear at the festival. The whole marking Sia'tri in blood is just the elders giving their blessing in front of the other Artugians. If they didn't do it Jon would be challenged for leadership on an hourly basis. Slowly going to work on an internal political struggle that will change Artuga and affect their relationships with the Mur, the Parica and the Tal-Men. This is just the first sign of Jon losing his control and having to rely on the elders.
As for Ria, I was originally going to have her smash her claws with the rock but it wouldn't be her place to do so as Sia'tri retrieved the rock.

Should have brought back a bigger rock..... Oh well Jack and Rose will find their ship of dreams one day. I assume now we are moving on to the festival or is there some sort of Artugian ritual to the bonding thing.
Well the ritual is usually get the rock, smash claws, go off into the bushes for five minutes, the male walks out like he's some kind of hot sh*t and the woman comes out looking rather disappointed.
The only part of it that is ritualistic is the breaking of claws. It symbolizes that you are willing to go through the greatest humiliation known to Artugians for this person you married. So I guess if there is a way for Sia'tri to humiliate himself you could do that as usually its the one who brings the stone from the volcano that has to break his/her claws.
A little side note: Jon had 4 other wives but Ria is the only wife that he broke his own claws for. And yes the claws do grow back, eventually.

A Greatclaw called Rev met an artyee called Vas. They fell in love. Rev decided to propose to Vas, so he climbed the volcano and searched for a rock. As he searched, he fell into the volcano and died. Vas ended up married to Kado, and they lived happily ever after.

I know the Mur-Artuguan hybrids will be accepted and praised due to the relationship between Mur and Artuga, but I think in Artugian society, Tallgians? Artmans? I can't think of a good name, will be shunned due to the hatred between them.

Yes, it will be weak to iron. Artugian metal is forged from iron mined at the base of the volcano. According to legend, the last Twisted one was killed at the Volcano, some say it was casted into the magma, some say it was because the last slayer used a shiny rock.
However, another ancestor can stop the twisted one, but that is only legend...

In the time between...... there was Fallout 4..... I don't apologise for that one bit.
So I will tonight to allow Jon to die. I understand now it would not be a kindness to force the man to live without the use of his legs in Artugian society and would not help the Artugans.
I must start a quest to have Sia'tri find and establish the new Artugian leader murdering whoever attempts to stop him.
Fallout 4, I understand. If I wasn't at work right now, I would be hunting Synths.

Any tips. I love the game but find myself unable to settle on a build. I am neither married to Energy Weapons nor Guns though I find the Laser Musket charming. That being said Guns seem more plentiful and reliable and I'd rather not rule either one out.
In my furthest game I'd just reached Diamond City, completed the Chem Ambush Quest for the Submachine Guns and Rocket Launcher. Also I am considering restarting and moving directly into Hardcore mode. Anything I need to know about that mode?
I also typically find my way to stealth related perks and am leaning towards Ninja when I can access it to pair with melee weapons since they do look to be very interesting with the modding system. Explosives are often also used as traps and I'm looking in CHA perks for the first time to get attack dog levels as well as potentially that Intimidation one late game..... however I don't want to ruin the game by talking my way entirely through it.
There are some benefits in having high CHA but I tend to keep mine at 5 as it can help with some situations and can speed things along if you are stuf, or help you get better deals and rewards from quests.
I would suggest early on getting a point into gun nut, lockpick, hacking, and armourer and scrapper. These will help with modding, getting better gear and caps and more power armour frames, and with the scrapper perk, you get screws and other rare crsfting items a hell of a lot easier.
For stealth, ninja is the way to go as well as gunslinger (the single pistol damage boost skill. For weapons I would suggest using the 10mm pistol upgraded with a hardend receicer, long barrel, reflex sight and suppressor. As well as a pipe pistol with the same mods. Reason being is that raiders (who you will be fighting a lot of) carry plenty of .32 ammo due to the pipe weapons they use and you can get the 10mm from almost anywhere.
For armour, I would suggest getting shadowed leather or metal due to the increased stealth capabilities as well as pocketed to increase your carrying capacity.
Laser muskets, I do like the high damage and crank mechanics but I don't use it thst often as I am doing a run and gun build and there is no way to mod it to be automatic. Instrad, I used the Righteous Authority which you gain from a quest.
Explosives do go along way. Having a fat man with the MIRV mod or even the Big Boy with the MIRV mod can be extremely useful against legendary death claws. Not to mention luring them into landmines does do a massive amount of damagem I would also suggest having frag grenades and molotovs in your hotkeys as both can work in a pinch and help you a lot. For example: Feral Ghouls are almost always in a pack of 5+, a molotov can weaken and sometimes outright kill the pack. Grenades are perfect for flushing enemies out.
Also knowing what to gather to make your own stims, radaway, rad ex and othet chems goes along way too, the chem crafting station is located behind a house in Sancutary hills so you.
Agility is another useful skill as it increases your AP which helps with both sprinting and VATS.
As for Hardcore, I havnt done it yet, still on my first play through.

Bit of Lore about the Ancient one:
The Ancient Ancestor is the oldest and rumoured to be the first Artugian to ascend into (for lack of a better term) Ancestorhood. He is the closest thing Artugians have to a God. His name has been lost to the ages, but has been known to come to aid Artuga but at a great cost to the summoner, that being their pseudo-immortality.
Jon was able to summon him in his last breathes of neing alive, but only just. However Jon can never be summoned nor can his skull be retreived to be place on the throne of skulls.
Unlike other Ancestors, the Ancient can not be corrupted or twisted and only leaves when it is either slain or has completed its agreed upon task during the sacrifice.
Also fun fact: Mila was in love with Jon, which is why she swore to serve as one of his gaurds. She also holds Ria in the highest respect.
By the way True, with Murk heading to the Cauti frontline, would you be able to write them into the next battle if possible?

Can you write into your story as the Dark One is killed Shu'um and two of the Mur being thrown from the walkways during the battle. However Sia'tri can take Jon's skull not being Artugian and might wear it like a battle helmet.....but now I know who the Great Claw must be. Wherever she is Sia'tri will find her..... unless thats supposed to be Mila in which case he'll just have to puzzle the statement out. More Lore:
The Scattered - A splinter group of Artigians who believe that Artuga should belong only to the Artugians and all outlanders should be enslaved or killed. They also believe that the Ancestors are angry and have cursed Artuga due to their alliances. Their numbers are unkown and their influence is unkown.
The Shattered Blade - A secret police force/spy network set up by Mila and Mo'q to combat the Scattered and bring justice to those who dare break the treaty or harm outlanders without reason. They are made up of elite warriors and path finders who can pass a brutal and almost fatal screening process, which includes an extremely thorough interrogation. Due to the nature of their work, the blood law forbidding the use of their claws against other Artugians, doea not apply to them (inspired by KGB, SAS and GIGN)
Edit: Forgot to add, those who end up joining the Shattered Blade, give up their tribe, clan and family in service of keeping the treaty, sustaining alliances and protecting Artuga.

Despite wanting to do right by Artuga he can't just go AWOL on the Southern Isle Mur..... especially not with what is going to be happening.
If anyone remember them they are the female devotees of Vinnetir who is god of storms, war, and the male Passion. Also you'll remember that they like taking foreigners alive of various reasons that I've not outlined yet. And damn they've been wanting to get their hands on a live Artugan.
I've got some methods for the things they might do to their victims so let me know if anything might get some information out of her.
Filing her nails carefully everyday while taking their venom for their own devious purposes. If she ever returns to the world she will certainly not be the same and will find herself a true devotee of the Mur pantheon.
He can offer to be a consultant and liason between the Stormdaughters and the Shattered Blade. I mean if you think about it, he is perfect, seeing as he is the most trusted Mur in Artuga not to mention the first outlander to be made Artugian in all but blood.
As for getting information out of her, I'd say have fun with it. She has already had her claws broken, which is extremely painful and degrading for an Artugian tongo through, shes been stabbed by claws, beaten to a bloody pulp. The only thing they haven't tried yet is venom and antidote. Mainly because Artugians do not have a way of making an antidote yet.

Tied in the war?
Edit.
Found my favorite, Extinction of a species.., Any volunteers? Artiguians? Oh! I have one! I say the Mur the very second they attack. I mean... then I get to dominate the seas and take it from the Osmar and the then-extinct Mur. And we could have a change of heart and ally with you and dominate the land. And win... After a possible Tal-Man genocide... Wait... Those pesky Angelisians and their filthy fish could stop us! Drats! Also, if you were wondering about the wars thus far. Osmar v. Cauti Parians v. Cauti Tal v. Cauti Blood Raiders v. Cauti Artugians v. Cauti (Christ, these guys are good at making enemies.) Mur - Cauti Mur - Osmar Mur - Tal The Cauti started a revolution and made a lot of enemies in this little world. I imagine they will likely be attempting to ally with the Mur, perhaps even the Artugians if possible. The Cathay Raht possible attempt. I must say, if they ever even hear of the Kysmal, they shall be hellbound on allying their young rebellion with them.
In regards to Artugians vs Cauti, they are only doing so as to gain favour with the Parics so that the Parics can help them fight the Tall Ones, Artugians don't really care either way about the Cauti, they just want revenge for their people that were killed and enslaved by the Tall Ones.
To be fair, if the cauti were to offer a sure fire wau to erradicate the Tal Men and return the Artugians home, then the Artugians might dissent from the allied forces and fight with rhe Cauti. Hell, Murk even hinted at creating "accidental" Tal Man deaths on the field of battle.

Unless we are going by Firefly rules, in which case everybody dies "I must say, your chosen warframe suits you! Ha,ha. The ancients talk about an armor more powerful than iron, steel, or kevalire. It has protected people for centuries, from the ancient geek stories of Troy, to the modern anime characters. It is... Plot Armor................!!! "If someone tries to kill you, you try and kill them right back"-Malcolm Reynolds Funny thing, in another RPG I play is based off of Malcolm. Oh yeah artigian poison, gives you a hard on and then kills you. Is it part of the if lasting longer than 4 hours?
"Everything in Ordis? --- Is that a pun?! --- (I forget the rest)"
Venom* not poison. Poison is drunk, venom needs to be injected. Which is why it is like viagra when its drunk instead of being deadly. If side effects last for more than 4 hours, see a doctor or get another woman.

I shall soon make the port OCC to Fextralife, granted if we do agree on the transfer.
If you guys have an account on there, post it up.
While the OCC will be there, the IC will lag behind for a bit. I've got no issue with it. Is the IC transfer syncing up with the proposed time leap? Yeah, it will be transferred after a bit. (Polishing. ) The OCC will come first. The Basic OCC is waiting to know if everyone is there or not. It basically features A Map Outdated Maps Anything before the characters of importance. I will update to add Characters of Importance. By the time the IC moves over, the time skip will likely have happened.
Can I has link?

3-6 montsh would be interesting, Murks warband could have done a few more black ops missions during that time, Mila can be dealig with what might be the start of a civil war, and Mo'q and Csh'te would be trying to take out as many assassins and rabble rousers as they can.

Basically in 6 months the Mur have....
- Returned Kal'm to Burtgun as diplomatic envoy and keep a cautious but polite eye on the Cathay Raht - Csh'te indulges her sadomasochistic tendencies in the civil war, only M'oq really is aware of how ****** up she is. - Sia'tri brings Ria to the Isles while they are introduced to magitech by Shuri'den, she asks him to return the Artugans home. - Admiral Welkin returns from the blockade around Kysmal bringing with him the Mur Navy to be rearmed. - Sephrena is sent to on a long journey to the island nations of the world as well as to conclude the trade deals with Patris.
Out of curiosity, what side would the Mur end up siding with during the Civil War? I will note that some Mur will die.
The two factions would be those loyal to Mila (she will make questionable decisions to be revealed later on) and those who wish to usurp her and remove non-Artugians from Mar'thal (but not Artuga)
