If you must use a CalAss, 1 reactive is the way to go. Then 2 cmplx regulators.
I was always iffy about a 4th extender bcuz my fittings won't allow. I'll need to skill suit to 5.
At least 1 energizer or recharger. I prefer recharger because I need all the hP I get.
ARR > CR/ACR because range, and because of the Caldari stand-and-deliver synergy with the ARR instead of the hit-and-run CR.
That's why you see GalAss and AmAss use ARR. They stand and deliver better than Caldari suits.

Woudln't that mean the Caldari have more of a hit-and-run playstyle? That would make sense, considering that the Caldari focus on Shields. Do some damage, hide for a couple seconds, then pop out at full HP again and do some more damage? If the Caldari were confined to a hit-and-run playstyle, they'd be a crappier version of Minmatar suits.
Point is, the Caldari are supposed to stand and deliver with the durability of a GalAss. They aren't right now. Even the Galass beats them in sheer hP tanking ability. Sure we have good regen rates, but it's not persistent regen.
What armor weapon at standard level has the raw power to OHK like a Scr or SG does to shields?
GalAss and AmAss are better stand and deliver suits, and thus can spend more time under fire while continuing to fire the ARR.

Damage mods stacked with armor = mo kills
Shield tanked = medicore kills
If you have cover 24/7 shield tanking is great. You get caught for 2 seconds and can't recharge shields, that low eHP means a quick and painful death. Better to just use shields as a buffer for your armor.
Like for example, my cal logi can stack plates in the lows for a whooping 1200+ eHP. Do the same to a CK.0, running rep hives, and you quickly realize why shield tanking is LAMMMME. I'll admit though that the speed is nice though not nearly as needed if you can down your opponents (or just you know tank their damage) before they reach you.
And this is why armor players complain about armor-stacking Caldari. But the buffs for an ingame mechanic aren't the top priority apparently. Skins are so much more important...
