Here's how i invision the dropsuit core idea working in the game.
When you skill into a dropsuit skill, you unlock a dropsuit BPO, like, gallente basic medium dropsuit, at each of the tiers you unlock the ability to use gallente basic medium standard core, gallente basic medium advanced core, gallente basic medium prototype core. Each core is linked the a skin to color the dropsuit, it also provides the cpu/pg to the suit, while the dropsuit itself has all the slots for equipment and whatnot. You can of course equip a skin to over-write the default skin if you wish.
existing dropsuit BPO's, such as the quafe series, dragonfly, valor, etc, can be replaced with two items, 'quafe' BPO cores each for medium assault, medium logi, light scout, heavy sentinel, heavy commando of all races, all of them tied to the skins, and also 'quafe' BPO skins for each of these roles as well. So that you might use an advanced or prototype core in your dropsuit and still equip a quafe skin to the suit if you wish to show your purple power!
APEX dropsuits, and dropsuits with loadouts can be replaced with appropriate 'apex' BPO cores that will have a skin attached, as well as modules and weapons attached that will fill in the dropsuit slots. Although this would require having the dropsuit unlocked and at level 1, it would not require having any of the weapons or equipment unlocked. Or they could be kept as is, but this would be a nice direction I think.
So what would this do? well as we know already, it would mean 8 dropsuits for each race, all available as BPOs, including the basic light medium heavy suits, assault, logi, sentinel, commando, and scout. 3 cores for each dropsuit, each being tagged with the appropriate skin, and prodividing the cpu/pg to the suit, while I also think these cores could come with attached loadouts to equip weapons and whatnot to the suit to replace the current dropsuit's with loadouts with cores that you can equip to the dropsuits.
The dropsuits themselves would still be tied to the role bonus skills, and other skill bonuses, while cores would not |
