It has a smaller hip fire dispersion than the actual rail rifle.
Meaning, if I'm in CQC I'm better off using the RR for an enemy right in front of me than the SMG, which is opposite how it should be. The current hip fire is what I would expect if there were a 'tactical' MSMG variant, but not standard.
Perhaps they should be switched

The problem is that it's less effective at very close range than it's long range equivalent weapon, the Rail Rifle. Out of these two weapons, the rail rifle should not be the better of the two at CQC.

bigger clip, faster charge up, higher rate of fire, faster reload. ive been using it when im too close for the RR. i think its ok actually. looking forward to an assault magsec variant one day |

For some reason, I find it easier to track my targets with the Magsec than any other weapon, leave it, it's good. |

I don't think it needs anymore tweaks. I tried it out recently on my alt and the hip fire -- if you hold it for too long at least -- starts kicking like a crazy mule. From what I see, it's meant to have some range but not to the extent that it marginalizes the Rail Rifle and its CQC viability is ok but not to the extent that that it overwhelms the regular SMG. It's kind of like an in-between weapon of sorts.
If you keep it down to short bursts you can manage the kick but then you have to deal with the charge up time.

The problem with the recoil is needing to re-charge if you stop firing to stabilize the weapon. It needs to be more stable or have a much loweR or no charge.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.

I've been using it more recently, I'm getting more used to the hip fire, although it's still easier to hipfire with the actual RR.
What's interesting is the ADS on the Magsec is extremely good at a decent range!
Maybe the lesson here is that the Caldari just aren't meant for hip fire.

Past 20 meters in ADS is where cal start to shine. However the magsec needs to be tightened up a bit so it's ADS isn't a frustration exercise

A slight reduction in kick will do nicely. I don't want to fire a gun and think my merc has parkinsons
