You might not want to make blanket statements based on the outcome of a single war, even if it was the largest armed conflict ever. France has been pretty solid in war for ~1200 years (going with France as a recognizable entity starting with the treaty of Verdun). The US has the greatest military in the history of the earth, but we haven't done so well in wars over the last 70 years. I guess France showed up to fight one too few times and the US about half a dozen too many. |

How do you get the impression that I'm upset? Neither cowardice nor jingoistic bravado work very well. I just find it funny that France gets ridiculed for not fighting by nationals of a country that would be a lot better off not fighting every once in a while. |
