With the skill to increase knife damage, as well as melee damage enhancers in the game, I would like to see more of a role as a melee fighter.
If a character could equip a sword in their light weapon slot instead of a gun that seems like a fair trade. It could be maybe 50% more damage than the knife and double the melee range. Something like a katana would look pretty cool with the armor.
I know a lot of people wouldnt want it, but it would seriously be cool and offer something different. |

Not sure about a katana, but a super heated hand axe would be sexy |

Not sure how a Gravity Hammer (halo reference) would fit in DUST since you have to get real close to use it and it's heavy, but a Katana would be nice. Ever played Metal Gear Solid: Rising?
Also, a grappling weapon like that used by Batman in Arkham City would be perfect for the scout to use in trying to draw fire away from the people he's charged with protecting. Shoot the grappling gun, catch a gun by the barrel and force the enemy to fire at you while your buddies move in. |

FFS... It's a FPS (First person shooter) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_person_shooter). In war the knife is a tool not a wepon. It takas years and years to do those ninja **** you see in Hollywood. You shoot people and if the get close you hit them with youre rifle. Ther is no time to draw a new wepon or a sword. |

I wondered how long it would be until someone requested a Katana in this game. |

I would be happy if they just made the knife reach a bit farther and also made it feel less clunky to use. It seems like a waste to have fast classes, melee damage bonus from skills and fittings, all for an underwhelming knife.
I think giving up a gun for a sword is a fair trade and I could see it being effective in close quarters.
However I also see rivers of tears and a subsequent nerf to it if even a couple people used it effectively in beta. |

Greetings,

That may true be in the heat of battle, but there are plenty of times where being able to use your knife as a weapon is preferable to a gun / rifle. I know that when I am in my scout suit, I would much prefer to have a blade over my scrambler. In fact, there are many other melee / martial weapons that I would willingly take to a gun fight... Why? Because there are no rules, but to survive and these other weapons can enhance the chance of doing just that if used right.

NO
This game is many things, but one thing it is not, is Gotham City.
If there is a way that a Scout can yank my gun barrel away from him, I will seriously quit DUST.
That is worthy of a negative like. Seriously, what are you thinking man?! |

Ok, duly noted. Mind you, I'm only asking for what I like to see, not what needs to be addressed as I know there are more important things to deal with than some stupid grappling gun. |
