Mainly:
How are shotguns, scouts, tanks, and swarms? Oh and rail rifles and combat rifles and smgs.

SMGs used to be slightly OP and now they are solidly in last place. Any other sidearm will offer performance advantages (even the Ion Pistol).

Believe it or not, cal frontline starter fit. Mlt ARR (no charge time), BP, uplinks, about 500ehp & FREE!
Unfortunately, none for you though.
Min assaults are everywhere, Amarr assaults are wrecking with LR & ScR, OG scouts (min & gal) hold sway over the others, swarms over forges & if your not running proto all day/everyday your going to feel lonely.

Matari tech has taken a huge leap. All other tech is still good, scouts are fine....except the Amarr. Assaults are good, except caldari, logis are...except the caldari. Armor tanking and stacking damage still works. Jumpy suits..are funny. Sentinels are a bit more tame. Welcome back to the game, and the forums.... where the real game is played.
Also, no dropships or LAVs, only Madrugars.

Caldari Commando with proto rail rifle and proto swarms/tac sniper rifle. Triple damage mods in the high slots and a regulator or dampner in the low slot.

Tanks are much different from when you left, check 'em out.
As far as on the ground, I think you'll find that much of the work done over the past few months have been to balance weapons and suits, so there's not as clear of a FoTM as there used to be. Armor is still better than shields in most circumstances.
There's been a huge change to myofibs as they now not only increase melee damage, but let you jump higher.
Matchmaking has also changed greatly -- you'll find your competition significantly stronger than before with far fewer easy noob kills. |

Welcome back Char! Always good to see vets return.
The minassault is definitely the "go-to" slayer suit.
The minlogi is best logi. Some may say the gal too, its the only suit that scans worth a damn (actively.)
Scouts are still in a good place if you don't care to use a cloak (even the amarr.)
Commandos are crazy fun, but fill very small niches. I wouldn't suggest using it as a main suit.
All sentinals are competitive at the moment, but amarr reigns supreme in EHP still.
Maddies are damn near indestructible again.
Swarms are dropship/lav killers, but any decent tanker will laugh at them as he drives off. PLC and forge are still better at anti-infantry than AV, but will catch an off guard tanker now and then.
Combat rifle is a great all around rifle. RR (more specifically the assault variant) has incredible range while still beating out most AR users in CQC. ScR is still a great 1v1 weapon for those with gungame. The AScR got a buff too, but I haven't used it yet. The AR lacks the punch in CQC to make up for its pitiful range. Shotgun is still the same, suffers from frame rate drops at times.
If you want to go tanks again, go Maddy, but expect a Nerf in the future. If you're thinking infantry, I suggest anything minmatar.
'Sault AK.0 - Logi AK.0 - Logi GK.0 - Scout GK.0 - 'Mando MK.0 - Masshole in every sense of the word.

They don't seem to be getting the 25/0 I'm accustomed to. Interesting that there are real proto tanks now.
