Good day everyone!
First, I would like to thanks CCP for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the beta testing. I was frothing at the mouth waiting for an invite. Next, I would like to add that this is only the second game I have ever beta tested, so my experience with this kind of thing is limited (my first was SWTOR). With that being said, I would ask my fellow beta testers to be gentile (this being an EVE based game, I know that is a stretch ). I would also like to add that I have spent about 8 - 10 hours with the game so far. It's not much, but it was enough to generate some first impressions.
Anyway, on to the feedback.
1. My first suggestion comes from SWTOR actually. At the end of an instance or upon logging off there was a screen that would pop up with four short multiple answer questions and a larger text box at the bottom. They were great for providing feedback about lag and general game experience during an instance. As of now, the only place I know of to submit feedback for Dust is right here on the forum. It may be worth adding something similar to the game during beta testing.
2. This one is likely to get flamed, but hear me out. Skill progression in the early going seems a bit slow. When I first started playing EVE a noob character could jump into a frig immediately upon creation. Granted, I was unable to fit it well at all, but I was still able to get into it and learn the hard way that it cost ISKies to replace. That I believed to be one of the greatest lessons I ever learned in EVE: If you can't afford to lose it, don't fly it (and has stuck with me ever since that first day). I don't get that feeling with Dust as the skill point requirements for getting into what I would consider "frig level stuff" seems quite high. Along with that the ISK requirements seem kind of low. I know stuff adds up given the number items you have in your hangar, but to me it seems unbalanced. I suggest a tweaking of the SP's earned boosted just a little (see #3 for a suggestion on how that can be accomplished), and ISK earned down or price of gear raised a bit.
3. Since it seems we earn SP's based on performance in battle, and there doesn't seem to be anything on HOW we earn SP's, I suggest the following: A weighting system for gain of SP's due to a kill. A player in noob gear who ends up taking out a guy in proto gear should get a small bonus of SP's for doing so, and players in proto gear should likewise get slightly less. This I believe to be worthwhile because there aren't gear drops due to killing enemies. It adds a bit to the risk vs. reward idea that is prevalent in EVE.
I think I will stop here for now with general game play stuffs. I generally like to stay away from flameworthy suggestions, but as this is a beta test, anything goes. If the devs do happen to find this, I hope something in here was helpful.
Thanks-
