I know there are more but I can't think of them at the moment. Not typically into the Heavy Metal kind of stuff but I have to go along with Rise Against, Three Days Grace, Shihad, Breaking Benjamin, etc. Though I really like a weird collection of things from OST's through 30 Seconds to Mars, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and through into the classics from the 20-50's. For the longest time I was practically obsessed with the songs Injection, Rise Against and False Pretense, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
I'm more into Punk that I am into metal, but lately there havnt been any good punk bands to come out since the 90s and early 2000s. And no I do not consider Green Day Punk. Those fools were lucky to be inducted into the Hall of Fame IMHO.
What got me into metal was actually going to Mayhem Festival in 2009 while I was visiting some of my cousins in the States. They were going to Mayhem so I tagged along. The pits were more intense than at punk shows and I had an amazing time moshing to Manson and Behemoth and Killswitch.
I've seen Devilskin live when they did their free show in Auckland, really wished I could of gone to Motley Crue and Alice Cooper when DS opened for them. Unfortunately I was working a nightshift.

Have you heard of METZ or Billy Talent? Punk Isn't dead, just not "mainstream" anymore. Plenty of punk. Mudhoney, J Mascis, Bad Religion, and Pennywise are still around too, AND making new records Edit: Check out Epitaph Records if ya want Punk.
Never said Punk was dead, just some of these new bands don't do it for me. I love Pennywise, and I always try to get ticket to their show when they are here. However I also have to pay for a flight to Sydney and get a hotel... Really wish they would play in Auckland

The Living End isn't what they used to be ,damn car accident... I live near Philadelphia(where the music scene is poppin ), so I was baffled by the Punk statement. Check out Stonefield. Not exactly punk, but an awesome band.
Kiwi, not Aussie. Havnt really seen much of a punk scene, its mainly a bunch of metal heads in my town, I don't mind it means Devilskin and Shihad play here from time to time.
