I don't know how many times I've dropped two clips in a heavy and some butt head comes along and shoots once or twice doing less then 2% dmg and they get the kill for it after i did all the work, 2% dmg guys = assist not a full kill in my book not sure about yours.

hmm define standard = used or accepted as normal or average.
Not really striven for excellence with average or normal are they. Just cuss its the lazy way out of doing real coding, don't mean its right.

You assisted greatly in allowing him to make it dead.. but that is all you did, not him...he killed it.
This is the way it is now at the moment, I think other games call them kill thief's, due to the same line of coding that says last shoot = kill, now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I want to see someone run around and do nothing but dmg and not follow through and getting kills that way. I'm saying your actively shooting at a target and someone else starts shooting at the same target after they are over half the way down and you get the assist after doing all the work for that kill.
I think I seen someone say something about getting points based on how much dmg you do on a kill, and that is almost better then what I'm thinking of. But it would have to be something like reps the dmg WPs only count for so long after you stop shooting at the target and have a max amount so players getting reps dont give out 200 WPs for said kill, End of day kills don't really matter in this game WPs do so yeah keep your kill but give the WP's to the person that did all the work, and give the kill thief 11 WPs or based on how much dmg they did to help get that said kill.

Edit: Just to clarify, the WP's would only be awarded after the red dot is killed. I like how BF3 does it. Your assist points are based off of the percentage of damage you did to the enemy. A kill was worth 100, so if you did 99 percent of the damage, you would get 99 points, and your teammate would still get 100. Besides, who cares who gets the kill as long as the kill is made? The important thing is that the enemy dies, not that you get credit and pad your KDR. What kind of person bases their perceived value on that kind of crap anyways?
If WP's didn't put you at the top of the killboard at the end of the match and the number of kills put you there I would agree with you, but seeing how its not a killboard its a WP board, it does kind of matter.
