I've killed two with an ADV Missile Gunni (ADV Missiles, too), but both times they were running away, exposing their weak spot.

Depends on the pilot... and whether or not his hardeners are up. You can't buff a crap driver, but put a good pilot in a proto HAV and you generally need two to three players to bring them down.

I luckily killed like 2 of them a while back with following fit.
Adv maddy
Adv missile
Adv hardener, 120 plate, double heavy rep(or maybe heavy and light I think)
2 adv missile damage.
Your best tool for tanking is using your map. Attack from behind. They won't know what hit them and by the time they hit there hardeners, they should be close to death.

i find that av nades and plasma shells up the ass tend to drop them before they know what hit them but for everything else there is nothing a good assuult forge cant drop

2 assaults or scouts with Lai Dais will knock out just about any tank.
Aside from the best drivers I have been able to solo any proto tank with my scout using lai dais and a proto swarm launcher. |

Well, unless your team is a bunch of ******* tools, and you have no protection from several sources of AV coming at you.
