Is the hardener delay also for shield tanks?
I'm just asking because this could make a huge imbalance between shield tanks and Infantry.
Unlike Armor tanks, shield tanks don't passively rep through damage with means- you get what you got until you retreat to redline.
Man, it's gonna be impossible to run my gunnlogis that don't have 2-3 complex shield extenders.
A PLC and a few nades can almost down my Shield tank in the time it takes to turn on those hardeners where as the PLC doesn't effect my Armor tanks as much and my Armor tanks can almost always have hardener up and passive rep through damage.
Yet, another nerf to shield tanks. SMH.

I think I nice option would be to allow the person who owns the tank, have a choice of being both the driver and main turret gunner or have them separate. I believe it would allow the driver to manage mods and monitor the situation more effectively, while the gunner takes out incoming threats. |

I can't wait to get on and try out the shield energizers.
Shields are meant to be long range, but the only problem is most of the maps are too small for shield tanks to be the most effective without being in the redline. Plus, at longer ranges you don't have to worry about getting jumped by infantry as much. It's best to stay as far away from them as possible.
But yeah, the delay sucks, especially for the ADS.

The shield hardener is meant to be used for attacking a position. Turn it on before you ambush some place, wreck face, then skirt away before it goes down. It should not be relied upon if you're caught by surprise or out of position.
This is the same with or without a delay, but like you said, it's very difficult to use it defensively with the delay.
That's the theory at least. Honestly the whole armor/shield characteristics are a bit topsy-turvy at the moment.

Shield boosters still need some love so they're worth using.
Though honestly, I think Rattati is just going to move forward with the pseudo Amarr/Minmatar variants, see how fitting meta works at that point, and then tackle the modules. I guess in a way that assures we have the whole picture, rather than trying to balance around just Caldari and Gallente HAVs and then breaking it with the addition of the variants.

Prediction: Amarr HAVs will be more OP than Gallente HAVs, unless balance passes are made before then...

Of course they will be. Passive Armor Repairers will need to change one time or another, either before or after Amarr HAVs
