I do like that when the battles happen, they feel balanced; I have had great battles, where I win and lose and never get bored. Of course, there are other times when it just sucks (most of the time actally). Why? Well, 12 vs 15, 9 vs 14, 7 vs 13... Even in those battles where I had a great time, I cant remember even one where it was 16 vs 16.
Now, I would love if battles where always 16 vs 16, as they used to be, but 12 vs 12 is not that bad, the problem is when there is a big difference (5 players, for example), or when the team starts to leave the match. Today I got into a battle where if I remember right it was 12 vs 12, and in less than 5 seconds 5 guys of my team left. I left too, why would I stay in a battle where I wouldnt be able to do a thing?
Anyway, I think I read a post where Rattati said that it didnt look that bad according to data or something like that. My experience is that most of the battles are unbalanced in terms of numbers of players in each team, but Im sure I have read other posts that said they were doing fine. In my case, this unbalanced battles get decided in the first minutes of the match, because people leave as I said before, or because the team just gives up and even if they stay in the match, they stay in the red line.
About the players on each team, thats something I believe CCP would have to fix on their own so we can get 16 vs 16 again, but about players leaving, when there is no significant difference of players in each team (like more than 3), I would like to propose the next penalties:
1. If they leave two battles in less than six games, people wont be able to get in a match for the next two hours.
2. If they leave two battles in less than six games, they cant acces their Warbarge for two days and it wont produce anything.
Now, Im not very creative with these penalties, but I really like the first one, because it would force the people to play. And it would only apply if people leave in matches where the teams are even or where a team has less than 10 players, while the other has more than 10. Im not sure how much of a good idea this is, or if it sucks, or if it cant be done because its too complicated to implement or whatever, so if someone has a good idea or at leats an idea, please comment it.
I usually get almost full team every game, but I think I'm in a large pool of average players, so I can't compare to the top tier players which probably get the short end of the stick. That being said, there need to be a greater incentive to stay in-game for the full duration of the match. I personally think the payouts are fine as is, but apparently some people don't.
- Raise the earnings for a win, but reduce it with a percentage if you leave constantly. So if you try and game the system, you won't get a single ISK more than the loosers.
- Reduce the squad size to 4 for pubs. This way the max squad size fit evenly into a team of 16, making it easier to fill an entire team. With the smaller Mu quanta, we should see some further improvments to the matchmaking. Large squads (6-8) or even teams belong in FW and PC (including raiding).
