This is a really good idea with it comes shooting games, usually almost no one uses team chat because their too in the Moment or Blinded by raging.
Its a fact in Dust, that nobody has time to press select and have the game turn into the map with a chat thing. My idea is like in some online games the team chat is visible , on the lower left or upper left so the player can type and see what's happening while in motion.
Lets say some type of person sees an opening or a weak point, and tells a few of his mates to assist him. In a fer seconds the men in cover could see this and respond. While in Dust, when you select team chat you would be in action, distracted by the going conflict they would't bother to do it unless they told someone their in a squad with to check every few minutes.
But if it was on without going to the map it would enable someone to stop their current interest and assist. Dust is a team shooting game, by doing this It allows better coordination and help from your team players.
Ideas, what do you think?

A recent example of how great this could be was the other night I was bored, so I decided to try out the free to play Air/Tank game for the ps4. My first game in I really had no idea what I was doing, anyway, two mins into the match I notice someone in the lower left box was yelling " Help i'm stuck, help!", I notice him (his tank was upside down), so I was able to help him turn his tank over. I did nothing else that match really lol, but that felt good.

Even if this happens, it's not like people will still use it. As you said, nobody has the time to go to the chat during a match. It would end up being a trolling tool for people who don't want to actually fight at most.

Why does it feel like you are continuously going against me, this is for those who actually care about teamwork and planning during a match.
Basically squads and info givers whom/who have plans an/or would require assistance to kill a certain pest whom keeps killing you and is the reason his team is winning.
Merc/people would most definitely use it for many reasons.

CCP would have to fix the in-battle chat bug first but this could help communication.
Wouldn't be usable unless you were away from the fight, so maybe add a MGO-style quick callout option that highlights you; press a button, or combination like hold R2 and a d-pad button to signal "need a medic" and then that message pops up in the chat and your chevron/marker glows blue, like if you scan an enemy.

I say remove the scoreboard / Map bindkey from the 'Up arrowkey / Down arrowkey' and replace that with a 'Teamsay Push To Talk' button.
If players do not wish to listen to Team Chat, they can go in options and turn it of.
Seriously, why do we need a scoreboard/ Map button on the keypad?

Best solution would be to put dust on the PC so everyone is using a hardware keyboard instead of a controller + software keyboard to type things out. Nobody is going to use the chat to say something if the information is half a minute old or more by the time they are done typing it. |

Encouraging team chat? Not bad.
Just remember that some people abuse the oft-misunderstood free speech thing here in the states.
If we get more team mic chat? Or moronic type spam? I want friendly fire enabled in all game modes.

IMO if someone is not able to 'see' whats going one on battlefield, even blinking team-chat icon will not help. Beside writing takes ages with DS3. It's not professional to chat with each other during the fight.
We need that proximity voice that MAG players suggest from time to time.

I love this idea, unfortunately the coding it would take plus adding the control algorithm would be a lot of work, honestly I believe CCP should invest in doing this to help with gameplay and player communication, this would also create a positive atmosphere on players and get them to join active corps. If CCP does all this I will invest more money into this game.

first off... why not automatically place everyone into the team chat by default? If a squad doesnt want to be in the team chat they should have a squad settings option that makes them exempt. this way everyone ends up on comms TOGETHER by default.
secondly, we need more non verbal commands. Add a player command wheel similar to the squad command wheel, that allows players to request ammo, remote repair, vehicle transport, call for back up at the players current location (similar to the rally point command), and a separate "attack" order (for squad members). These commands would allow for communication between players without mics, as well as between players that speak different languages.
There should also be a tag feature for players, allowing them to tag another player similar to using a defend order except that the tag is persistent through death. This means that squads can pair up into "battle buddies" and keep track of each other, which is useful for players that dont have mics or dont speak the same language. |

As much as I "like" co-ordination and teamwork, listening to a bunch of 14yr olds act like fools or whine because they lose something doesn't really appeal to me, those I want to chat with I do, the whiners and kids I really prefer not to. I have no beef with the kids playing, but I believe we shouldn't need to have to turn off voice to be able to choose who we talk with, and that is what I would likely do if team voice were auto selected. On top of that, people who insist on playing bad music or hot micing their argument with their mom about if it is time to get off the PS3 or not really do not make me want to play but rather make me want to troll them instead.
